Review: To be transparent, I pre-ordered Black Desert on console for £80, this was a mistake.

To start off with what the game does well:

1. It is beautiful, probably one of the best looking games on Xbox right now in my honest opinion.
2. It preforms fairly well for the size it is, BDO is massive, being ported to console you'd think it would run like trash but it's surprisingly good. It does have some bad times in towns and crowded servers but that is to be expected of every MMO, but riding through to wilderness doesn't cause very much framerate loss at all.
3. The combat is glorious... I mean actually glorious, it can take some getting used to but once you've mastered the character, the combo you're capable of are so flashy and exciting.
4. The pricing, I mean it's literally like £7 ($10)

Now onto the bad:

1. If you're one for lots of good story, this isn't the game. Which came be said of most MMO's, story just is definitely not the focus of this game.
2. It is VERY grindy, this is a Korean MMO so you better be ready to spend hours ontop of hours grinding if you wish to get the best items.
3. It can get very 'samey'. Another downside to the grindy nature is spending long hours in singular play sessions of just massacring trees and goblins can get boring, while the combat may seem flashy, against higher level enemies it's mostly for naught as sometimes it seems to take forever to kill enemies.
4. Microtransactions. You are able to purchase EXP Scrolls which increase your EXP Gain, this doesn't really become a problem until Lvl50 where pvp is enabled... Everywhere except towns and camps. So this certainly can have an inpact on gameplay with certain people gaining an advantage in PVP through cash.

Overall, it's a fairly decent game plagued by many of the issues that plague similar games. For those uncaring of story and dedicated to the grind, this may be a perfect game but for others it may not be their go-to game, but for the price of just £7 ($10) I say it's worth the price if you're looking for something new or a new hobby.
