Blizzard Announces ‘World of Warcraft’ 15th Anniversary

  • World of Warcraft developer Blizzard announced a new collector’s edition in honor of the game’s 15th anniversary.
  • Includes several in-game and physical items for $99.
  • Currently available for pre-order, expected to ship in mid-October

Blizzard has announced a new collector’s edition in honor of the 15th anniversary of World of Warcraft. The bundle, which costs $99 USD, contains several items both in game and for your home. The big ticket item is a statue of Warcraft fan-favorite Ragnaros the Firelord. The statue is almost 11 inches tall, and showcases him wielding his mighty hammer, Sulfuras. The bundle also contains a few art prints, a pin with Onyxia on it, and a mouse pad with a map of Azeroth, all together with a collector’s edition box. On top of those physical items, the bundle also contains two Alabaster mounts: the Alabaster Stormtalon for Alliance players, and the Alabaster Thunderwing for Horde players. Players also receive 30 days of Game Time.

The anniversary event this year will also include a special in-game event. The event is a series of challenges before a 25-man raid event, featuring the most popular raid bosses from the game’s history. Players who complete this challenging event will earn the Obsidian Worldbreaker: a mount version of Deathwing the Destroyer.

If players are unable to earn this magnificent monster, they can still earn the Lil’ Nefarian pet as a login reward during the event.

Feels weird to mount one of the most powerful bosses in the game. Kinda insulting for Deathwing.

Might buy 1 monthly sub. just for the event.

  2. Bought it for the statue. It looks beyond dope.

  3. Finally it’s coming out

As much as I think this looks great and is the type of content I want to see from WoW, the rest of the game is still just not worth playing right now.

The mounts look great, especially the alabaster ones. The Deathwing one might be a pain in the ass to obtain, if the “series of challenges” is anything like the 10th anniversary’s LFR Molten Core, but it seems worth the trouble.

    Looks like a skylander.

  7. Shameless whoring cash grab from a dead company.
