Review: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is the great last game in the amazing Modern Warfare trilogy. Having played every Call of Duty game until Black Ops II as a kid, this was my favorite one, narrowly beating out Call of Duty 2: Big Red One. Politics and practices aside, Infinity Ward delivers another great game, as they always did before Call of Duty started putting multi-player mode before single-player. Recently, just for fun, I bought this game on Steam and played it through on veteran difficulty, and I can confidently say that it lives up to the memory my kid-self created half a decade ago. The story is great, and the gameplay is what you'd expect from any Call of Duty game after World at War, the tried and true FPS gameplay that Activision has perfected. If you haven't played Modern Warfare or Modern Warfare 2, I'd recommend playing those first, but you could jump into Modern Warfare 3 without having played them and still understand the story. It's kind of like a procedural crime drama; you can watch any episode and understand it, but each episode develops the whole story as well. I haven't played the multi-player on PC, but from what I remember playing it on the Xbox 360, it was great, and the still-thriving community this game's multi-player still has strengthens that notion. All in all, if you're looking for a good story, the Modern Warfare trilogy has you covered. If you're just looking for a good shooter with a story, Modern Warfare 3 has you covered. If you're looking for a good Call of Duty multi-player experience, Modern Warfare 3, after almost eight years after its release, still has you covered. No matter which aspect of this game I look at, I don't have an issue recommending it to anyone unless they actively dislike shooters or good stories. Close
