‘Cuphead’ Is Getting an Animated Series on Netflix

  • Unique story from the game.
  • Hand-drawn 1930s animation style.

In a tweet that reads like breaking news in the days of newspapers, Netflix has announced the production of their new original series, The Cuphead Show.

Together with King Features Syndicate, Netflix intends to replicate the 1930s style of hand-drawn animation in a separate story from the game about Cuphead, his brother, Mugman, and their adventures through the Inkwell Isles. In the announcement from King Features, they say, “The character-driven comedy follows the unique misadventures of the impulsive Cuphead and his cautious but easily swayed brother Mugman. Through their many misadventures across their surreal home of the Inkwell Isles, they’ve always got one another’s backs.”

Having been only just announced, there is nothing close to a release date yet, so keep your eyes peeled for more news on this one.

  1. Knowing the “quality” of Netflix’s latest productions, I will prepare myself for a dumpster fire.

  2. On one hand since the original creators are involved it could be good, but I don’t trust Netflix and I’m not giving them money.

Inb4 Cuphead is replaced by a black cast iron pot, and Mugman is replaced by corning-ware.

  4. Only way this show will be good if it’s a true 1900’s era cartoon with stereotypical caricatures and animation and even at that point Netflix will still find a way to ruin. Most likely, it will go the way that Popeye remake went.
