‘Final Fantasy VII Remake’ Delayed Until April

  • Requires a little more time for polish.
  • Now coming April 10th.
  • Second title delayed today from Square Enix.

As unfortunate as it seems, Final Fantasy fans will have to wait a little longer before they can get their hands on Final Fantasy VII Remake for PlayStation 4. Square Enix has announced today that the title will not be releasing in March, but will instead release a month later than anticipated. Final Fantasy VII Remake Will now release on the 10th of April 2020. The producer of the title, Yoshinori Kitase, released the following statement from the team:

“We know that so many of you are looking forward to the release of FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE and have been waiting patiently to experience what we have been working on. In order to ensure we deliver a game that is in-line with our vision, and the quality that our fans who have been waiting for deserve, we have decided to move the release date to April 10, 2020.”

“We are making this tough decision in order to give ourselves a few extra weeks to apply final polish to the game and to deliver you with the best possible experience. I, on behalf of the whole team, want to apologize to everyone, as I know this means waiting for the game just a little bit longer.”

This news also comes at an unfortunate time, with many of the features the developers were hoping to save for release leaked. One benefit, however, to this delay is that there is a demo that is supposed to release. Either way, this remake is important, and some feel it can make or break the remake era we live in. Games like Resident Evil 2 Remake, and the upcoming Resident Evil 3 Remake, show that fans have high expectations of these reimagining of classics.

If you’re worried that this Remake will change too much, Square Enix confirmed there will be a classic mode to play. You can also re-play the original on Nintendo Switch. Final Fantasy is a beloved franchise with some of the best story scenes in gaming. Square Enix knows how important this release is, and delaying it shows that they are showing quality is more important than sales. Final Fantasy VII Remake isn’t the only title Square Enix has delayed, Marvel’s Avengers has also been pushed back to later in the year.

I know this delay is disappointing, and that April is already stacked with releases, but will you still be picking up Final Fantasy VII Remake? What is the greatest Remake ever released? To stay up to date on Final Fantasy VII Remake, make sure to follow the developers on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and their official website.

I don’t have a PS4 Pro and I don’t really want one. My kids all have computers now. The only consoles they play are their hand held ones (Switch/DS/Vita).

My PS4 is a media player for streaming services and movies. I am excited for this game but I will probably end up never playing it unless they release it on PC like FF Boyband (I loved FFXV, great game).

I love Metal Gear and I am super excited to the PC release of Death Stranding, but I can wait. I have a ton of games to play. On PC, there is literally an endless amount of good games to play.

With services like Xbox game pass and other companies realizing that there is a market for them on PC, I expect most titles after the first year or so will eventually make their way to PC. Especially with the console HW becoming more like mainstream PC HW, porting is easier now then it has ever been.

Sony is old school and will keep doing the exclusive model but with Microsoft essentially dropping the exclusivity model and embracing their OS that had crazy market share. I think Sony will eventually join everyone else, they might even make a launcher…
