Good day, everyone.
My name is Ma Ma, and I'm from Washington state, USA. I've been a lifelong gamer ever since I was a kid growing up with the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo. I enjoy all sorts of games on both PC and console (and even some mobile games), from RTS/TBS, shooters, horror, simulation, adventure, JRPGs, and rhythm games. While I do often game online, the ever-changing pace of life has kept me from enjoying it like I used to since my IRL friends' and my own schedules frequently conflict. In recent years, I have shifted more towards enjoying single-player and offline experiences where I once preferred online competitive games. I've found value in games which don't leave you behind if you don't play them and where your skill does not decay after time away.
Like many of you, I have become increasingly disenchanted with the perceived negativity the games industry has become fraught with today, due in no small part to the insistence of agenda-pushing by so-called games journalism. As such, I found out about this forum after watching related videos by Youtubers like TheQuartering and Hype Break, and decided to look into it to find out what it was all about. To me, games are not only a fun and interactive recreational escapist activity, but also an integral part of my social life that has permitted me to make friends and build relationships that I otherwise would not have. In the spirit of escapism, I prefer to enjoy games today not through the political lens, but with emphasis on the quality of a game's design, depth of storytelling, fun factor, and our ability to enjoy them both individually and together as gamers.
Thank you, and I look forward to conversing with you all!
