Hello everyone,
As the title instates, I kept the best memories close and think about them quite frequently. From the birth of my daughter to the moment i met her mother and yes even video gaming has shaped the man i am today. See games for me are so integral to who i am because it was my one true outlet as a kid. Never did i feel like the "violence" in games like mortal kombat would make me a monster of some sort. Quite the opposite really, they made me more respectful and caring. Growing up in a "broken home" as some might put it, made me feel lost and not really sure of who or where to turn to. I was suicidal and diagnosed bi-polar, but when i first got my hands on a real system (my uncles game gear) I was in love, i never thought of the bad that's happening in the real world around me as I spent those weeks trying to pass sonic 2, and of course as any normal kid i bugged the hell out of my parents to get me one for Christmas. From there my passion grew and I eventually got into playing the nes, snes and genesis, which always put a smile on my face no matter what the game. But when the ps1 came out..... oh my god, not only was i enjoying myself even more but it was the first time i saw how much story a game can have and how easy it was to lose yourself. This feat came from the likes of games like myst, riven, parasite eve and especially final fantasy 7 which was the first game to actually make me cry (when aerith dies) that's when i truly lost myself in the world of video games. Now as an adult I've collected more systems and variations of those said systems then i care to admit to my significant other and more games that im pretty sure i wont be able to go threw in my life time. It's the one constant that has been threw my life i can turn to and i miss the days where i could play a game just for fun and not have to feel short changed by cut content or be turned away by ideologies of a dev/publisher that shouldn't be there. For me its always been about escapism, that's what games should be, but that's just my view.
