Hi Everyone.
Looking forward to seeing how this works out.
Even if all politics are removed from games there are still a lot of things that are subject to the player.

Correction: It always went out of hand when people brought their politics into things that had nothing to do with them in the first place. It happened on Youtube Videos, Blogs, Forums, and Gaming now too. In decades past it even happened with movies. Just some numbnuts with political agenda abc couldn't cope with the fact that other people are spending time with something they actually enjoy, and so they needed to try to force their powerless misery upon those who were immersed and hardworking as well as thinking in fields devoid of politics.
To put it bluntly: You can take a black rose and convince everybody, that this rose is clearly a sign from nature that black people are dangerous, because a rose has thorns. It won't make any sense whatsoever, but good people will feel forced to clear that up, and say, that black people are no more or less dangerous than any other skincolored person, and that this rose is not a sign of anything, it is just a black rose and that every rose has thorns. And then the people who made the initial statement will dismiss that clarification as "political", because that way they can pretend that there is something to politically debate about, even though it was just a statement of simple facts.Last edited by Kraneloran; 12-17-2018, 07:09 PM.

I for one welcome game discussions without politics. It's getting out of hand the last few years.

Stuff will break out once in awhile. That just can't be helped due to aggravators or just tempers flaring out. As long as the moderators reign it in and show no clear bias towards one side or the other then we'll be fine in the long term.

I don’t think games or people will ever not be political. One of my favorite games is Final Fantasy Tactics and it has a very politically charged story about a ruling class and its wants versus the needs of the peasant class (it’s has more, way more. But that part is definitely there). However there’s a difference between pushing politics and an aspect of a game that is political.

I ask myself the same question...
Especially nowadays that game developers are being more political than ever. Just look at how the new Dragon Age is being handled.
Sooner or later political discussions might be touched upon.

I believe the community will rally around the opportunity to conduct discussion about games without mention of any contrived or legitimate sociopolitical aspect of those games. Jeremy used an example in a recent video where he said something to the effect of, "We can talk about the gameplay of this game without discussing why this character's red Mohawk on the cover might be problematic, which has nothing to do with the quality of the game at all". Given that example, it's easy to see how challenging it would be to concoct a relevant intersectional argument in a place where people are generally uninterested in that kind of thing to begin with.

There really isn't that many games that have politics in them. Philosophy how ever, yes; and to the wording of CoC currently if we wanted to mention "Bioshock was partially inspired by Ayn Rand's Objectivism, but gone wrong" thats a apolitical statement about the game.
I think it will be easy. Welcome to the site buddy, its nice to see this site growing because I missed the old forum communities of years past.
