However a subscription model which gives perks would be good. Subscriber perks like maybe monthly competitions, store merchandise discounts, affiliate discounts, special offers etc.
i agree, the support for most of site/forum/discord should be free, but put some quirks like special live streams where people of website plays X games just for sake of fun, or maybe some gamer prizes such as action figures or special acessories (headphones, keyboards, anything useful in games)

Wikipedia is financed with donations and collects millions of dollars. They have so much money they do not know what to spend it on.

Great ideas, but re resurrecting old games, they're going to either have to get into some licencing agreements with the copyright owners or just do it and hope they don't prosecute. There are a number of sites already that, I think, are basically using the "let's hope they don't notice and don't prosecute" model. Not to say that another site like that wouldn't be welcome, it would! <Caveat on the whole next bit, because I'm not a lawyer> The thing is copyright lasts a ridiculously long time in the USA, and a lot of other countries too. And when a company goes bankrupt its assets, like the copyrights it owns, don't just disappear. The assets get sold off, and other companies come in and buy them, whether they fully understand them or not, or ever intend to use them. It's kind of like if I had a room full of [email protected]#$ and asked you if you wanted to buy it for $1. You'd probably say yes, not knowing what was in there, hoping to use something in there or sell it for more one day. Anyhoo, this post is way too long, but my point is a ridiculously old game, even one that no one had ever thought about or remade in ages, someone still "owns" it and will whoop your @ss if they think, or find out, you're making money from it.

This is a much better way of doing a subscription fee if it is required.

I dont think having sub only servers or a discord is a good thing. Why would you want to segregate the conversaion between real world rich and poor people? I want to talk to everyone, and play with everyone.

The idea of having subscriber only games is a good one, as people who don't want to subscribe can still buy individual games if they want. But in the end I doubt it would be legaly feasable.

Getting the community together to play games is a great idea, but doing it in a way that only people who pay can participate seems kind of scummy to me.

If it could be made economically viable I think this is a great Idea. Like a roaming horde of players experiencing old multiplayer games.
