I disagree. The fact that he may or may not plagiarise videos is not a topic related to games, no more than a thread about dogs is relevant to games because boogie2988 has one. If boogie does something about games, sure talk about it...if he fills his yard with tacky Halloween ornaments - don't talk about it. Just because a youtuber is recognised as being a video games youtuber doesn't mean everything they do is on-topic for this forum.

"Your argument is that if someone talks about games then any discussion about them is on-topic for the forum even if it isn't relevant to games (if he plagiarisers videos is not relevant to games). So if Trump plays games then anything about him is on-topic even if it isn't related to games.

    Right?"

I didn't say any of that, Cathy Newman. How about you draw the more reasonable meaning from what I'm writing instead of jumping to the most absurd and extreme conclusion from what I meant?

Yong is a youtuber who makes videos about gaming news and issues. Anything related to his channel would be a relevant topic because most of us would be interested in it since it would most likely be related to gaming or his channel. Regardless, it should be okay to talk about him because he's not political.

If Trump made a statement blaming video games for violence or about passing a bill to ban M rated games, we should be able to talk about that specific thing because it's relevant to gaming. Did I say anything about talking about everything about Trump in my posts in this thread? No.

    Right?

I figured you'd retort with an extreme example. If Trump talks about gaming, what he said should be allowed in relevent section.

    Fair enough.

BTW I hear Trump plays Candy Crush Saga so I can talk about him on a games forum. God isn't he the worst president ever? What a racist.

That's why people are asking for more sections to the forum but in the mean time, there's not enough sections to accurately put stuff in the right area. It shouldn't matter til that's fixed.

Any topic related to gaming should be okay. End of story. Yong' s channel is basically just gaming news and issues. A gaming forum is going horrible if it doesn't allow yong to be brought up. People are not one dimensional. Alot of things tie into gaming. If I wanted a forum that's so anal about it's theme, I would hang out at a trap forum with Dank.

If they close a thread rather than move it then, yeah, that's a bad moderator. But maybe they closed the thread as there was nowhere else to move it to?

They could have just moved the threads instead of closing them.
They do move threads when they're in the wrong place, but what is the right section for discussion about a YouTuber and if he is stealing content? None that I can see. The fact that he talks mainly about games doesn't mean talking about him is a games-related discussion.

The forum will die off if the mods don't chill out.
That's one way of looking at it, another way is that if the forum is filled with topics about youtubers etc then the people who want to talk about games will be put off and the forum will have failed in its primary mission.

Because there is flawed logic/reasoning behind their actions. Closing topics that already took off just because too lazy to move them is bad in my book as it stifles the already ongoing discussion just because OP made the mistake of posting in the wrong forum.

No, because they don't actually mod the discussions just swoop in from time to time. I'd at the very minimum expect the mods of the forum to be part of the community engaging in the discussions.

They lack consistency and still seem to be doing a shitty job at explaining why some threads were closed.

They moved it then closed it.

That makes it worse. They could have just moved the threads instead of closing them.

Do you understand what off-topic means? Yong was the topic in that thread and he mainly talks about video games.

The concept of Exclusively games makes sense and is needed in gaming reviews and gaming journalism but it's nonsensical when applied to a forum. People want a place they can speak freely. I didn't bring up the politics issue in this thread but rather the mods needlessly locking threads for pointless reasons. The forum will die off if the mods don't chill out.

In short: This forum has bad moderators. Nothing new. But hey, can't blame them for trying to be on par with Laptop65 right? Because Laptop65's moderation skills has helped a loooot of forums.

No it's not, you're choosing to see politics everywhere and to talk about politics. Given most people on here have come from The Quartering it is understandable that the audience already has a pronounced bias to an interest in politics and games. However Jeremy's intent is that you leave that at the door, not bring it in with you.
