Threads are often being locked without sufficient explanation, without the threads breaking CoC and for silly reasons.
"Why do corporate perceive gamers as idiots?" Was closed for "Topic closed. Not news." when it was posted in the video game section. WTF.
"Yong yea plagiarize ?" was locked for "EG is not the place for this kind of discussion. Topic closed." Granted the premise for the thread was meh but it's not against the CoC. It shouldn't have been locked for the stated nonreason.
There's hardly any threads or topics since the site and forum are brand new. The mods shouldn't be locking anything or acting against something that doesn't break the CoC. What's the point of a CoC if it's not being used as a basis for moderations or referenced in moderations? I would like to see this forum become really great but the mods have got to chill out. What do you think?

Suggestion about locking threads.

I've run several forums and this is by far the most hands-off I've ever seen. I cannot speak to the professionalism of the moderator team, or their qualifying experience, but their lack of community engagement certainly leaves something to be desired.
I can't even guess as to who the moderators on this forum are.
Ultimately we could create a hundred threads expressing our grievances about the moderating team, and we could create just as many suggestion posts to solve those problems, but unless Jeremy sees fit to read these posts, or take this information and act on it, there's not much else we can do.

I find it silly to talk about games without discussing the industry that creates them, the people that develop them, the law surrounding the purchase and creation of them, how companies treat the customers that purchase them, etc. These are all very on topic for a "exclusively games" forum. They aren't even against the terms of service the mods posted (on the one day a week they show up). But all these things have had threads locked with no discussion beyoned "off topic, locked."
Do the mods even interact with anyone here? I don't think I've seen any posts from them beyond "off topic locked." On the rare occasion they deign to show up here.
The couple of mods that occasionally parachute in to grace us with their presence (and not usually in a good way) clearly have no idea how to mod forum so perhaps they should stick to discord so we can can get someone who DOES have a clue about about how to run a forum.
I nominate fenrif based on his posts here. Erebus seems good too.

They have been moving threads, so it's disingenuous to claim they haven't. As I said, maybe the one in question wasn't as there was nowhere to really move it to, it was closed before it was moved. As for threads being closed that aren't on-topic I guess that's a subjective matter of opinion. They certainly weren't about games, you can't deny that, so what you're really arguing about is how off-topic you can go before it crosses the line, and that's always going to come down to a matter of opinion.

yes and no.
yes, because they close threads.--you are supposed to move them. closing or deleting them is outright lazy.
also no. not all of them are off-topic. some of them are on topic and not violating any rules.

The forum is Exclusively Games, not Exclusively Gamers. And you don't need justification to post anything, but if you post something off-topic then it might get closed.

This gaming review and article site is that but the forum doesn't need to follow that theme so literally. Many want an anime section. Gonna deny that because you want to fit the url perfectly? That's absurd.Originally posted by Aidy View Post

It's a relevant topic to gamers in general. We don't need anymore justification to post it.

I disagree. The fact that he may or may not plagiarise videos is not a topic related to games, no more than a thread about dogs is relevant to games because boogie2988 has one. If boogie does something about games, sure talk about it...if he fills his yard with tacky Halloween ornaments - don't talk about it. Just because a youtuber is recognised as being a video games youtuber doesn't mean everything they do is on-topic for this forum.
