Yes it has quite a bit in common actually. The only major difference is the coding language used to develop one or the other. You would be surprised how much work goes into stuff like this.
The fact that they are attempting to make and run a full fledged website on 150k is actually pretty impressive.
Take a quick look at this.

And even that is only the beginning.

Because developing 100 million dollar games has nothing in common with building and running a website.

We have a new update!
Sounds like a couple of weeks more and then launchOkay everyone! We have about 50 articles posted and are in the process of getting them cleaned up and ready for prime time on the main site. [Snippety-Snip-Snip]
We made some staff changes last week and everything is running MUCH smoother. I had to get some last minute design changes to the development team which I did today.
Basically, we could of been ready to launch last week Friday but we would of been lacking the user review section, and also needed a bit more polish. The reviews homepage still needs a bit of tweaking and we want to build in a way for users to submit games "to be reviewed", essentially since there are so many games I wanted to have the ability for users to submit entries "to be reviewed".
I am not 100% sure how this function will work and to be honest the developers will need these designs first so it will be a bit of back and forth this week.
I am continuing to have the editing team work with writers to keep the content flowing and getting prepared for launch.
Once I iron out these final details we'll be ready to launch. [Snippety-Snip-Snip]

I think you're jumping the gun a bit. You have to think that Jeremy still has a regular job to do on top of his youtube reporting, as well as overseeing the development of EG. I would prefer that they get it right the first time as I think it would be more embarrassing to release a half-assed site and lose traffic. Please take as long as you need to ensure that a high quality product is released. You're more than welcome to go back to the IGN if you are too impatient to allow Jeremy and team to release the EG site.

I suppose it would have helped if we didn't come under simultaneous attack from both the mainstream media and others who are allegedly on our "side" all at the same time, I reckon

After re-watching Development Update 003 it seems to me that there's still a lot to do on the main site before launch. The video mentions working on the back end of the main site, seeking new content creators and waiting on a significant chunk (fifty percent?) of the initial content (articles) to be ready for publishing. This is just my gut feeling, but it sounds like there's a lot more work to be done, so an end of February launch seems quite reasonable, rather than an end of January one - which has already come and gone.
Anyhow, the last update was a week ago, so it would be nice to have a new update around now-ish.
Some updates on the website! We're getting close!

Spending time away won't change the facts.
Can you not see my concern? Did you even read my entire post?

I'd imagine most of the sum is set aside as future salary for staff until other lines of revenue becomes viable (ads). My problem is that said staff is nowhere to be seen, I have seen many passion projects with more active staff, since they're being paid I'd expect them to be on top of everything, including the forum. Unless jeremy failed to hire any actual employees as of today.Originally posted by JackBurton View Postfor 150k $ not only i would create the site but fly to the orbit eat caviar and get back....can smon explain on what u can have to spend such gigantic sum of money?

Spend some time away from the site, maybe it will be good for your well-being instead of stressing over minor things or drama.
