  • Is it okay to talk about hacking games?

I love to use hex editors to modify game while running. I only do this for offline games.
Such things I have made is a copy paste to rewrite the sphere grid in FFX on PC for max stats once completed.
I have made a to get all items in Final Fantasy 13 and 13-2.
Would things like this be allowed to be talked about?

I think they've been pretty clear that with regards to using tools to cheat on multiplayer games, that that is forbidden.

That said I am a game modder from way back, from Baldur's Gate to Fallout 4, so I hope that doesn't extend to legitimate modding.

Pretty sure things like the Script Extender for Bethesda games are very much hacking, but no sensible gaming forum would ban talking about it. As of posting, Exclusively Games forum rules doesn't clarify, so I can only offer my opinion on the subject, which is: If it's not on multiplayer (except for very specific contexts like a private server where all players involved agree to the use of hacks), it's A-OK.

I would think modding talk would be fine, talking about circumventing copyright/pirating/online cheat software should not be allowed IMHO.

In fact I'd like to see a modding subforum at some point.
