To answer this seriously, I believe it's a disservice to say mobile gamers are not "gamers". By definition alone, they are playing a video game but we'll focus on the broader concept of "gamers" as this question I believe is going for.Originally posted by TheMightyWyvern View PostMeh, mobile gaming isnt that interesting, and mobile gamers arent real gamers, mobile gamers are even lesser than casual gamers. And mobile games are to blame for all this pay to win loot box nonsense in AAA games.
With the portability and accessibility of mobile gaming, we've had a influx of people who would have never touched traditional games. It takes a decent investment in a console or a PC to play what we consider normal games and some people don't want to fork over hundreds just to get started. In this day and age, a large portion of people have smart phones and they may view gaming as a simple time sink between downtime or a long commute. A CandyCrush clone holds no fair comparison to something like WoW and that's resonable. While I agree that aggressive Microtransactions have found a reliable foothold in mobile gaming, it may take some time for this new group of gamers to figure out their identity and response to them. I personally feel like the strength of the MTX will vary from game to game depending on each game's userbase. But to continue this discussion will probably merit it's own thread.
I say that mobile games should have their own forum or subforum depending on how this site will try and categorize everything. I think the layout will change over time but I can see mobile games having an important part of future discussions like this.

Good suggestion. No matter how you look at it, mobile games are a relevant market segment.

This guy trollin'? What? Lootboxes have been around before mobile gaming integrated it. Mobile gaming is to blame or the mountain of now macro-transactions (micro-tx would be less than a dollar...) I disagree to a significant amount my dude, 2018 was a shite year for gaming on top of it all.Originally posted by TheMightyWyvern View PostMeh, mobile gaming isnt that interesting, and mobile gamers arent real gamers, mobile gamers are even lesser than casual gamers. After you post in the mobile games forum do you need to wait two hours for your energy to regenerate before you can post again?

Perhaps, but posting will cost a dollar per post there, or you can buy a limited time post bundle package of 110 posts for $99.99 that comes with a free post boost.

I'd love to see that. There's a couple of mobile games I've discovered that are surprisingly good.

I didn't watch the video last night. Okay, cool. When one works 13 hour days at work, one falls behind in news.
