I’m not certain that trying to discuss the issue with these types will actually lead to their greater understanding. It will most likely be a waste of time, and if you don’t cater to or bend to their belief, they will take what you wrote out of context (usually) and smear you with it.

You can't discuss anything with this people, Spanish Inquisition 2018. What you said might not be bigoted, but it has the taint of bigotry… you've been near it…

    It's almost like religious fanaticism

The amount of people pushing their ideology and forcing you to accept your beliefs or be destroyed seems like it's at an all time high. It's absolute insanity and wanting to separate yourself from that world seems to be some sort of heresy. This site will be under attack for not wanting to be apart of it, their brand of authoritarianism demands it. I agree, let the moderators do their jobs of keeping out ideology and don't engage this self-righteous trolls. Why has the world gone so insane…

Not engaging people like that is key you can't enter in a logical argument with someone that already is targeting you for something that nothing but a rabbit hole of blame and shame that is unsolicited by anyone.

Actually all you need now is a credit card. Just a quick search for paid DDOS services should pop up a few options.

Wouldnt it be better to just ignore them? end of the day, we are here to talk video games, table top and TGC's. People who dont stick to the rules will get binned. its not like they can dig up any real dirt greater than an argument over wether a game is overrated or whatever.

To use an old rubbish meme.
    Keep Calm
    and
    Carry On

Sure they are going to do their hit peices, and that will put some people off coming. but if someone cant see past some nonsense mud slinging with no substance then i doubt the community will be at a loss for them steering away anyway.

Cloudflare will not only help with anti ddos, but also keeping the traffic flowing to help stop site cache hitches.

Just an idea based on my past experience.
Good point. Perhaps make a new post in suggestions? Depending on how perceptive the admins are... I haven't yet come to understand where they lie in that regard.

Let them squawk and ignore them, focus on quality content and point them to the rules, these are the tactics they used to infest the industry in the first place. Let them bang their heads against a wall, they aren't gamers, they're activists and no one here is interested in them

    This^^
Plus it's a very good rule to live by to avoid backseat moderating.

If you think the post is made solely to disrupt a thread, flag it for a moderator and pay it no further attention.

The hard truth is you have very little control over the actions of others, if people are going to take things out of context, that's their call. All we can do is try to keep it about the games, and deal with any issues as they arise - perhaps try to not over-worry about things before they happen (because they will happen, and that's where the energy and focus wasted worrying about things will actually be best used)
It's an old and cheesy phrase, but 'to thine own self be true'

I think the good ol' "Don't freed the troll" applies to broader set of topics than just trolling.

If somebody wants to disrupt discussion, the worst thing you can do is to start arguing with them. Because it's not what is being argued, but the act of arguing itself that is their goal. So just don't do it and everything will be fine.

Best way to combat that stance on this forum is just to be good people to each other. I don't care what you believe in in real life, I only care if you are a decent person.

There is nothing you can do much outside the site/forums, but all they have to do is follow their own rules and just ban anyone who tries to push their agenda in here. We talk about games. The mods do their jobs.
