No email verification on signup?

How is it possible that I've just created this thread without verifying my signup email? I was under the impression that such verifications were in place to prevent the robotic creation of accounts.

Am I out of touch? Is there some other mechanism? Or is it the case that this forum is totally vulnerable to bot accounts?

well still if a spammer needs to manually post/signup to places its much slower.you cant start asking every human for info and proof of what their intentions are,especially on a place like this that's just starting up.
once someone will start spamming ads or stuff they will get banned soon enough.i hope.

Yeah, but a bot is one thing, a spammer that wants to raid the forum is another, that's my point.

yeah but a captcha insures he cant create users on the forum automatically.

Or you know, a spammer could use someone else's email account or create many temporary email account just to raid the forums, the lack of a way to identify the person that signed up is worrying to say the least.

That surprised me too. Hope they put that in later. That extra layer of security is always a good thing.

well there was a pretty hard to read captcha during signup,no bot can do those as far as i know

Good point i was expecting an verification myself, went to check my email and nothing. :P
