Well to be fair some of my favorite retro games haven’t aged too well so I wouldn’t include it here even though they are still a favorite of mine.

Ok well that's what the people in this thread are using it to mean and if you don't have anything to contribute why don't you just move on?

Hah, Old School Runescape aged well. I'm having more fun with it now than I ever have since it surged back into popularity. It's almost a fresh start again since mobile got released.

The only game I've experienced like that is Doom. When I tried it again recently it was still fun. I didn't go crazy playing 100s of hours again, but I appreciated it for an hour or two.
That doenst tell that it aged well. It just tells that you still like it. There are horrible games like Hard Drivin for the Amiga. But I tried it again for the first time after decades and .... tried for an hour to complete a round with the joystick controls. And I succeeded . So "aging well" in context with any form of art is simply a waste of time.

There is no such a thing as "game aging". It would be as pointless as stating "Mona Lisa looks so horrible compared with the HDR photograph of my girlfriend". All of this games had their point in time and all of them had fans (even the worst ones. Otherwise the sales figure would have been 0). So the correct topic would be like "Whats your favortie retro game". And thats usually jsut shows how old you are .

My favorite games are, for example, Out Run on the C64 and Pac Man on the Atari VCS 2600 (and no, we in europe didnt had the smallest problem with this game, cause we were smart enoguh to know that console prots are always worse then the arcade originals. So there wanst any whining at all about the amazing game called Pac Man for the Atari VCS 2600).

I really like Dark Souls 2. I have the remaster, it's true ,but still; there's 3 games that have released since and the gameplay gets me everytime. I know I'd like either MGS2 or MGS3 too, if I could play it on ps4.

Well, you have to find the absolute right community because some milsim groups are utter crap.
Used to be better in Operation Flashpoint but nowadays they think everyone is special forces.
But if you want I think this groups is kinda nice and try if you can join them: https://www.twitch.tv/jester814

Halo for me has lost its appeal - I enjoyed the campaigns and have played them all but i personally never really enjoyed shooters that have a shield mechanic in multiplayer - ODST would be one of my favorites

I will have to YouTube it, I’ll admit I have never seen the C64 in person nor played any game on emulation for it
Working...
