I don't see the appeal myself, if you want to emulate retro consoles just do that, no need to buy a specialist piece of hardware. If you want the absolute original experience you need the original console, emulation is close but not exact. I suppose if you want to collect them, that's a reason to get them.

I have both of the Nintendo classic consoles. They are really convenient to just plug and play and that is a big plus for me. Easy to store and operate, even for younger kids who want to play. Now the Playstation classic on the other hand, I'll not be buying. The game lineup is quite garbage and I was never a big fan of the PS1 anyway.

Will get to the point that the cost of producing a quality product will interfere with the market that the company wants to achieve. PSX Mini is an example of this, 100 dollars and yet they had to cut corners to achieve a good margin of profit.

I am curious what do people think of the upcoming PC Classic? me I find it to be a bit of an odd choice for a classic system but at least it's not the Phillips CD-I.

I think the success of the Nintendo classic consoles has proven that there is a market for classic consoles. They serve a purpose in that they give us that feeling of nostalgia and they are contained in a very simple plug and play package that works on modern TVs.

I like classic consoles If they are done properly. Meaning they are manufactured well, emulation performance is good, and the game selection includes games that fans want to play. Having said that I consider the NES and SNES classic consoles to have met that criteria. Unfortunately the PlayStation classic does not meet those standards, and I hope the console doesn’t sell well so Sony understands that gamers deserve better products.

As far as which classic consoles I would most want to see come next, it would have to be Dreamcast or Saturn. I think the Dreamcast is more likely, but a guy can hope, right? Again, only if they are done well, but I would buy both if they are released at some point.

While the PS1 Classic was kind of a derpfest, I'm really looking forward to a possible PS2 Classic as some of the games are getting a bit too expensive, and I always prefer to get games in the best condition possible (if it's not new). A Dreamcast Classic would be nifty too. I really couldn't care about an N64 Classic though as I still own one and couldn't find more than a handful of games to play on the thing back in it's hayday. Even back then, I had the suspicion I was missing out on a lot of stuff because I was Team Nintendo.
I don't always play games, but when I do...I want them free of politics.

I have all three of the "major" ones (Playstation Classic is an upcoming Christmas present). All the while I already knew I could emulate; and do already to an extent (I have yet to get a raspberry pi though), in spite of this I still personally see the appeal to have something that has been officially produced by the games companies themselves, be it for misguided nostalgia reasons or whatever. I can see the flaws over other methods, but still got them, ultimately; because I wanted them.

I still have all the original consoles and a number of the games that have featured on these classic systems, plus a means to play it them on modern TV's either via my backwards compatable PS3 or upscaled via a Framemiester.

I'll buy a Megadrive/Genesis classic if Sega put one out, I'd also definitely get a Dreamcast classic, as that is one of my most favourite consoles ever.

I have the originals and the new ones to play with the kids. I'd rather they smash new ones controller then my classic's

I think it was a good idea to bring out these nostalgic consoles in a mini version. What I don't like is that they come pre-loaded. I would have been on board if you were able to buy more games from an online store front. Instead you're forced to buy it with games you might not even like. It's the only reason I haven't been interested.

Why not just get one like the SNES classic, hack it and put whatever games you want on it, I'd say about 90% of roms work on Nintendos emulator which as far as I can tell is as accurate an emulator as there's ever been. The thing feels and plays just like the original SNES.

Screw the nonsense of just having a certain numbers of games preinstalled and selling the other games through virtual shops for newer consoles. Just connect the old consoles to the internet, let people download their old games onto it and let them play them offline, onces they are on the console.

I would have liked the NES and SNES classic to have a cartridge slot, so you can play the physical cartridges if you own them, like that Sega Genesis classic one. Being limited by the preloaded games is a pain..
