If you mean Diablo-like, well then it was the original Diablo on a PC, and damn was it addictive. If you mean anything with a person with a sword, top down, not turn based, then original Gauntlet coin op in an arcade.

I'm pretty sure mine would have been Diablo 1. Such a good game. There's something great about the Top-Down view. Just so much fun, Really encapsulates what games are about.

    Loki: Heroes of Mythology.
By the standarts of the year 2007, the game looked fantastic.

I was on Ps1/Ps2 before, had no arpgs there

Diablo 1 I think? Not sure since back then most games I played were using isometric camera.

NOX, a West Wood studios game.

Strange game, but one which I have fond memories of.

Aye, good times. I know UT2004 was basically 2003 but with more content, but personally, I thought the 2003 content was better.

Baldur's Gate 2 Shadow of Arm. My cousin was playing and I also wanted to play, it was the game that made me felt in love with the English language and I also tried really hard to imitate Jon Irenicus (David Warner) accent, when I was a kid.

Pretty sure mine was Diablo 2. It was from a time when I started having an interest for RPGs in general. Before that I was playing mostly FPS games.

Dungeon Siege 2, I was really late to the ARPG party. And it was only trough a friend I discovered how amazing the genre is. After that came Diablo 3 and Path of Exile.

Tbh I'm not 100% sure what qualifies as a top down ARPG but I have played many top down RPG's/Games over my years.

Baldurs Gate series both originals and remakes + Dark Alliance
Ice Wind Dale original and remake
    Pillars of Eternity
    Sword Coast Legends
    Gauntlet
All the old School Zelda games
    Diablo 3
All the Command & Conquer games
    Planescape
    Titan Quest
    Total Annihilation
    Myth of Soma
    Balrum
    Divinity Original Sin remakes
    Fallout 1+2
    Dungeon Siege
    Future Cop L.A.P.D
    Wild Terra Online
    Dawn of War
Age of Empires II original and remake.

There's probably a lot more tbh and I know i've mixed a few genres together XD
I do have a big soft spot for top down RPG's and top down view games in general.

I don't know if this counts as an RPG, but The Legend of Zelda: A Link to The Past was the first time I experienced that kind of overhead sword-based combat. I make it a point to play through that game every year, so it must've had some impact on me!
