Also recommend Armed and Dangerous (parodies of classic movies) and Stubbs the Zombie Rebel Without a Pulse. Wiki both for plots.

      retro or classic?

retro is a new game with an intentional old design
classic is an old, good game

      if you meant retro, then:

      Ion Maiden
still in early access, but is supposed to be released in Q2 of '19

I'm throwing Spherebrain into the ring:

The intro is still one of my favorites:

One game for I absolutely love and am disappointed that it isn't better known, is a 1993 PC action/puzzle RPG called God of Thunder. TBH, I'm not sure how well it holds up today, but honestly I think it's plenty comparable to SNES Zelda games, but there is plenty of nostalgia increasing my rating of the game. I actually credit this game heavily for teaching me how to read as a kid. When school tried to push boring books on us I couldn't care less about, an RPG like this gave me a real reason to read as I had to talk to the townspeople to learn what I had to do and where to go, and in an era when many if not most RPGs barely had enough writing to tell you the basics of what to do, this game really had a ton of charm and funny bits of dialogue which didn't become common in games until much later on.

I finished the demo of GoT. That's some tricky shit right there. I didn't even recall there being a health bar because most of the stuff kills you instantly anyway.

This is a retro series for consoles (I wish I'd get a PC prot somewhere) that is semi obscure and was my favorite. I know you can download then on the PS store.. and looking for old discs the price of the #2 game can be a kick in the wallet.

If you mean just for the PS2 I really enjoyed The Getaway. Had a great storyline real world cars and the London setting was a breath of fresh air compared to a good chunk of open world crime games doing LA and New York City constantly. On the N64 Mission Impossible was a great movie game. Lot of fun puzzles to figure out.

There's a Ghost In The Shell game for PS2 which is pretty obscure and enjoyable despite the flaws. Nobody seems to remember it even exists.

Here is another hidden gem: Lightning Legend for the PS1!

This early 3D fighter was sadly only released in Japan (it can be had on ebay for about $20).
It has surprisingly good graphics and, together with Dead or Alive 1 (both from 1996), is one of the earliest 3D games to feature jiggle physics.

NARC. This game originally was in the arcades and ported to the NES.

Whatever you love, I probably hate.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Cross Dimension 0079 on the Super Famicom. Fell in love instantly. If you like Gundam and strategy games like Fire Emblem, check it out. It's a bit different but I like it

This seems to be a very commonly made mistake here and elsewhere, but "retro" and "old" are not synonyms. Here's an example of an obscure retro game: https://store.steampowered.com/app/7...Magic_Gravity/
