I have the Super NT and Super Gameboy 2. Best way to play Gameboy games from the pre-color era. Also, check out My Life in Gaming if you're interested in the best looking setup for any console

I inherited my father's collection of virus's. He had a few hundred, all labeled on 3 1/2 inch floppies. Pride in his collection was the Michelangelo Virus. A very fuckin evil virus.

Not sure if I qualify but I'm a simple person so I only collect anything that I genuinely enjoyed (the enjoyment threshold is not very high), no matter the genre, no matter the system, no matter the means of play. If I picked up a game and liked it, I'll make an attempt to have my own copy.

I grew up with Nintendo consoles but was later introduced to PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Sadly, Sega's presence has been obscure for me as I can count how many of my friends and relatives throughout my lifetime have owned a Sega console with one hand.

Aaaaaaanyway, I own and collect for... (in order of obtaining the console)

Most of which have sparse and few in games so far, but I can think of a few games I'd shoot for on a whim. Yeah, I fluffed the list with some current consoles.

      Say, here's a random question:
How torn do you get when deciding on which console to buy a physical multiplatform title on?

I have a modest collection of maybe 20 or so ps1 titles, stuff like dino crisis, parasite eve 2, metal gear sold.
It reminds me to try and find the physical copies of the games I really love these days, like Nier automata.

Atari 800 games on cassette (180+)
Commodore 64 games on cassette (600+)
Individual titles for Vic 20, ZX81, Amiga which I specifically wanted without creating a 'collection',
Small number of Game & Watch handhelds I used to own as a kid
          Megadrive (170+ vast majority Japanese)
Individual titles for PC Engine, Saturn, etc similar to computers above
Arcade PCBs (700+, 120+ carts for arcade systems)
          Arcade artwork/manuals (850+ items)
Various arcade machines & pinball machines
PS1/PS2/PS3/PS4/X360 - various stuff, not really a 'collection', just things I bought to play, probably 200-ish

I wish I'd kept hold of some of the many PS1 games I sold years ago. They didn't really have any nostalgia value for me at the time.

I don't really collect anything in particular, but I do hang on to a few things from my past. I have a few game cases on display and all of my music festival stubs for example. Just the few things that have meaning to me. Never really got into properly investing in collecting something like comics or cards (other than pokemon back in the day).

I've never really collected games, I used to only get a few games every year and when I started buying my own titles, Steam and other services were becoming more of an option. I'm not usually interested in owning games physically, I don't own any now aside from the Touhou Project games I have on CD.

I do collect a lot of figures from anime and video games, notably Nendoroid figures which I like for their uniform design and general aesthetic. I also have some Figmas and scale figures, which I'd like to get more into if I had the money. I also like to collect rubber strap-style keychains for different series I like, mostly from Touhou Project.

To a lesser extent, I collect CDs and vinyl, but only for rare releases I can't get easily and imports.

About ten years ago I bought my entire collection of gameboy/GBC games and a Gameboy Color so I could play through all the games again. GBC was my first handheld, so I have fond memories of it; but the non backlit screen made me sell it off after I was done because it was uncomfortable. Call me spoiled. Even had the Ninendo screw driver to change the battery out on Pokemon Yellow.

Now I collect boring stuff, mostly pulp science fiction magazines from 60's-80's like Analog. Does steam games, comics, and books count?

Is this thread only for stuff related to videogames?

                        Then never mind me.

No it isn't at least I didn't take it that way and I mentioned my pen and paper role playing collection. I guess it's supposed to be related to gaming but who cares? Feel free to share

I collect Saturn games, PS1 games (usually because I missed them the first time around), and Dreamcast games. I used to collect SNES/Genesis era games, but I've pretty much gotten all the ones I'd like to play (and can afford) already. The NES was never a system I played (I was a staunch computer gamer back then and up until the Playstation actually did I ever diversify), but I have a Retro Trio3+ and a couple of the NES' arcade ports (Gyruss, Donkey Kong, Burger Time, and so forth.)

I'd like to have gotten a TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine but the games and units are pricey now. I loved the Neo-Geo, but never owned one, so I probably won't start that collection either. Since most of the SNK compilations you can get on PS1/PS2/etc. are of the Neo-Geo games I love, it doesn't make sense to get one (though a Neo-Geo CD would be nice...)

Mostly Switch. I use Everdrives for retro gaming mostly, but if I do collect anything, it's import titles for the sheer coolness of having them on a shelf
