I had that problem, I would always buy shitty games based on price alone. What I do now is look first at the picture and name of the game (intentionally not looking at the price) and decide if I want it or not. If I decide that I want that game, only then I check if it's worth the current price.

I better figure out how to get my hands on a steam card then.

I think Steam sales have broken me. I refuse to pay full price for a game anymore. And I'm highly addicted to buying games that are 3-4 years old cause they are so cheap. Why pay $60 when in a few months it will be $20? I still have quite a few just sitting on my wishlist waiting for that nice price drop.

I think that's close to my mentality by this point, the last AAA title I bought at launch was Fallout 4. I won't even buy a $12 title on Steam until it goes on sale.

There's so many free titles, cheap indie games, and giant bundle sales out there that the $60 price tag seems like a distant memory for me. I paid $60 for the Hyperdimension Neptunia bundle on Steam and I've gotten hundreds of hours of enjoyment out of it. Plus going for older titles means that I don't have to worry about my PC specs being out of date so much.

Maybe it's just me, but the current Steam sales don't get me as excited as 5-7 years ago. I find much better offers throughout the year on Fanatical, Humble Bundle etc.
I bought the latest Styx game the other day for less than 5 pounds including some other games. I doubt I'll see it on the Steam for less than 10 pounds.

I'll scan the offers, but I don't expect to buy a lot of games.

Sales arern't the same as they used to be. Prices are high, the flash sales are gone (but are rumored to come back) and overall I lack the thrilling experience of a sale event. Miss those good old days.

                  This!

It's not just Steam doing the breaking. Fanatical and Humble are doing their part.
If a game interests me it goes on my wishlist until the price drops to an amount I like.
I like GoG for older games and NO DRM.
                  I game, therefore I am.

Geez, so much games I want. I hope the ones I look forward to play to have good discounts!

I have a few games on my wishlist I hope will appear in the up coming sale.
But yeah, I don't spend so much on games these days, as I have SO many unplayed games I've not had time to play yet.

As always welcome leaks of important data such as the winter sales, to bad they are not as epic as they used to be.

When a three-year-old game is $60, then suddenly it's on "sale" for $20, which should have been the price initially.

Save your money folks, stop buying games you will never play.

I also like to buying old game in order to help fix them of bugs, i fixed a cursor issue in one game via some ASM opcode to correct an API call
or fix old games that just don't process close properly on quitting the game.

But I do get a mood from time to time where i want to play a few games in a day or play a game that I bought long time ago for a long stretch.

So, for me to save my money on games i will never play(i do agree with in principle) but practically it's not easy, because there is always a chance I'll play it.

Maybe it's the fear of missing out.
