Off sale price is listed as $9.99 each but they go on sale often enough there is no reason to pay full price.

I don't always buy classic games but when I do I buy from GoG.

I remember buying Fallout 1 in 2000ish for 5 bucks in the sales bin. It came with a huuuuuuuuuge manual. I actually used that manual a bit :/

Your right about them offering the free games to all who purchased fallout 76. I def mistyped what I meant to say. I do however stand by the fact that it is a slap in the face of the console gamers. It wasnt that I doubt they could have a PC to run the free games. If your offering an apology, I think you need to look at who your apologizing to for what is the best way to do so. What if,hypothetically, Sony messed up and randomly had all save data deleted from my PS4 console. They wouldnt want to apologize by offering me a free game on PS Vita. That wasnt the console that even had the data deleted and Sony doesnt even know if I own a Vita.

Point is Bethesda didnt apologize with a neutral giveaway between PC gamers and console gamers.

I just want to clear up what I meant by that scarcastic comment about the free games only going to fallout 76 present and future buyers.

I should have said this differently in the post but I was scarcastically bringing up the fact that it was being used more as a ploy to hopefully generate sales of their game. I was in no way meaning to come off as me being upset i didnt get the offer extended to me or anyone else that didnt purchase fallout 76. Bethesda offering free games is not a bad thing in and of itself. When you look at everything surrounding that decision to offer the free games, that's when it starts to look like there may be a little more to it. An apology is great, however, an apology with an agenda is not a sincere apology.

Honestly, the biggest point I meant to make about my post was they were offering free PC games to gamers who bought the game on xbox, ps4, and PC.

Oooohh yeah I kind of glossed over that bit. It's not entitled to every and any gamer of course; it's for the poor purchasers of 76. I'm from the No Man's Sky over here, but I feel like it's a kind of different case with that game. Regardless, I think some major compensation is needed, more so than 3 measly games. Maybe they could like... I don't know, catch up with the rest of the industry? They're like the special kid that everybody feels too bad about to make them stay behind a grade because they write really endearing stuff. It looks bad, but it's endearing, and so they get passes from everybody.

I'm not defending Bethesda as a whole, you know... just their decision to give the 3 free games to their FO76 players as being a reasonably acceptable peace offering. That is, after all, what this thread is actually about. Feel free to correct me if I've somehow screwed up and misread the entirety of the OP.

Take this quote from OP as an example of just one ridiculous objection to Bethesda's action: " Bethesda is giving away Fallout 1, fallout 2, and tactics to everyone!!! Yes! 3 free games to all gamers!!!!!! OH wait. Just for people who purchased or will purchase fallout 76"

Like, what... he's upset that he isn't getting the 3 free games since Big Meanie Bethesda is only giving them away to their customers? That's the equivalent of saying you, a non-customer, somehow deserve free McNuggets because some other guy had his order messed up and got free McNuggets as small apology. Or that you're angry you weren't given a free Big Mac instead. Literally makes zero sense.

I'm just not sure how people are continuing to defend Bethesda. I was painfully reminded by a lot of people to not even bother playing Skyrim on PC if I don't get the SKSE, which is needed to just to fix a lot of base bugs. When your games start to require the help of modders who aren't in your company to make the game better once you release, that's just fucked. How can you even defend a company and hope their next games are gonna be good when they're still using an ancient engine and keep fucking up with their newest game? Honestly it's not even something to laugh at or meme anymore. I legit feel bad for the fanbase and community surrounding Bethesda.

Wait so you're telling me that to compensate people who are really into a first person shooter multiplayer game that bombed... They're giving away 3 games to those players that are entirely different in mechanics and playing, and at this point practically have nothing to do with Fallout 76?
I mean, 3 free game is cool, but why didn't they give those players like.. Fallout 3 or something that's actually in line with the current Fallout games? ESPECIALLY when they're apparently messing their own lore up that goes all the way back to those games.

Your Bethesda-serving assertion that “everybody has a shitty PC laying around to play these games” is simply untrue and egregiously unfair....A huge percentage of the people who ONLY PLAY GAMES ON CONSOLES don’t – and wouldn’t play a game on PC anyway.
Oh, really? The US Census asks about computer and internet access. According to 2012 data 78.9% of US households have a computer and 74.9% also have interent access to go along with it [1]. If you go by what the 2013 American Community Survey says, 84% of households own a computer[2].

What evidence do you have to support your claim that a huge percentage (whatever that means) of people who only play on consoles don't have a computer and wouldn't even play games on a computer if they did? I'm sure you didn't just pull that out of your ass... right? :P

The OP’s assertion that the “free game” offer is like the $5 worth of Atoms was essentially correct... He was pointing out that Bethesda is yet again trying to diffuse customer and community anger with a hollow gesture that COSTS THEM NOTHING....Bethesda offered items of almost no tangible value to mitigate backlash for their despicable behavior.
The classic collection normally costs a crisp twenty dollar bill, which is about half of what the game can be bought for nowadays, and it's offered to literally every single player who logs in before January as opposed to the handful of people who bought the Collector's Edition that received the $5 beehive haircut. So, your claim that this move costs them nothing is hilariously wrong.

The other little fact that you skipped over is one I mentioned previously: They *were* only offering these “free” games to people who downloaded directly from Bethesda, but not to people who pre-ordered elsewhere.
Care to explain how that is even relevant to the conversation? Are you really so mad over not doing your homework to find the best pre-order deal that you're now throwing a tantrum over it, half a year later?

The “the games are available to everyone” propaganda is new and is in reaction to the blow-back their ongoing pattern of outright disrespect of their customers and their repeated customer-unfriendly acts.
What point are you even trying to make here? That because it's a new action they're taking in response to the poor reception of their game it's somehow automatically a bad thing? What kind of argument is that? LOL XD

PriestTroit and all of the self-appointed corporate apologist of the same ilk.....
I am curious as to whether you fall into the category of a compensated shill? It doesn’t have to be cash. Do you get preferential access to information? Beta participation? “Free” game keys? Invitations to launch events? Naked 8x10s of Todd in snail mail? Are you a streamer dependent on people wanting to watch game play? I think a yes or no will help us understand your point of view more fully... go pickup your part-time shill paycheck from Bethesda.
You've gotta come up with a real argument, champ, if you really want me to engage you in any meaningful way. Ad-hominem and ass pulls only make you look foolish.

Bethesda have been relying on modders for a decade just to make their games playable. I loved TES and FO but now im going to pause and think before buying their games.

Hopefully they dont mess up the dishonored series but you never know i guess.

Whaats even more insulting is the lack of communication with players and the gaming community as a whole. For some bizarre reason some of the players are actually defending bethesda.
With out a doubt i personally think that Fallout and Elder Scrolls would be near as fun with out mods. Even just basic mods that make the games work as intended. Its really disheartening to see that Bethesda cant even incorporate some of the bug fixing mods between games.

PriestTroit – and all of the self-appointed corporate apologist of the same ilk:

Most of the people who are disgruntled with Bethesda’s behavior over the years, but especially with Fallout 76, have legitimate, demonstrable, provable, potentially legally-actionable reasons for their negative views. The long list of documented incidents of customer-unfriendly behavior and bad corporate citizenship is, with few exceptions, undisputed. Bethesda does not need help from individual champions to assist them with the spin doctoring and attempts at revising history. Their corporate propaganda machine, along with the assistance of the shill gaming media and compensated cheerleaders are doing just fine on their own.

I am curious as to whether you fall into the category of a compensated shill? It doesn’t have to be cash. Do you get preferential access to information? Beta participation? “Free” game keys? Yeah, I know your post was disguised a rant about “what you can’t stand about entitled gamers”, but it boils down to an intellectually dishonest defense of douchy behavior by a large corporation towards its loyal fan base.

    GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT:

They are only offering the PC versions of the free games. Your Bethesda-serving assertion that “everybody has a shitty PC laying around to play these games” is simply untrue and egregiously unfair. I probably have upwards of 25 PCs of various ages stashed here and there, but Apple users don’t! A huge percentage of the people who ONLY PLAY GAMES ON CONSOLES don’t – and wouldn’t play a game on PC anyway. The other little fact that you skipped over is one I mentioned previously: They *were* only offering these “free” games to people who downloaded directly from Bethesda, but not to people who pre-ordered elsewhere. The “the games are available to everyone” propaganda is new and is in reaction to the blow-back their ongoing pattern of outright disrespect of their customers and their repeated customer-unfriendly acts.

The OP’s assertion that the “free game” offer is like the $5 worth of Atoms was essentially correct and your assertion that it was “totally different” was totally wrong. He was pointing out that Bethesda is yet again trying to diffuse customer and community anger with a hollow gesture that COSTS THEM NOTHING. People paid real money for the game. They got an unacceptably broken product for their real money. Bethesda offered items of almost no tangible value to mitigate backlash for their despicable behavior. It wasn’t even couched as an actual apology – just “compensation” to make you feel better.

While I am truly pissed that Bethesda cheated me out of $65.00 for a broken and misrepresented product, I am now glad the Fallout 76 disaster happened. Every stumbling, bumbling PR misstep by Bethesda and Zenimax is hopefully accelerating the end of the scummy game company practices we have all been subject to for the past few years. Every new FO76 debacle is forcing debate as to the wrongness of shipping broken games, shipping games with reduced content, removing base game content from games so it can be sold as DLC later, and purposefully making games grindy so you can push pay-to-win micro-transactions.

This is not about gamers feeling entitled to free stuff. It is about gamers finally starting to demand that they get the original product that was sold to them instead of settling for a stripped-down sub-set of the product they thought they were buying for the price paid. It’s what this new website is all about: honest discussion and evaluation of these games without the shilling game media and the corporate spin-doctoring.

Next time you go pickup your part-time shill paycheck from Bethesda, tell them I am eagerly looking forward to their next pre-order sales figures. It will be the comedy event of the year.

I don't know if it's a good game or not since I've never played it or know anyone who has, but it doesn't seem good judging by the reviewers online I trust. That being said, I think OP and people who agree with him are wrong to be upset about Bethesda giving away 3 free games. I'll just post some of my responses to OP's argument.

tl;dr - I think people are looking for reasons to hate on Bethesda because it's the flavor of the month.

I dont think offering 3 free PC only games to 2/3 of the fallout 76 playerbase comes off as anything but a ploy to get people to buy your failed game.
Gamers who are playing on console would be playing on pc if they wanted to play on PC. Offering pc only games for free is a slap in the face to 2/3 of your playerbase.
Firstly, Bethesda's offer IS extended to both PS4 and Xbox players. At least get your facts straight. All any player needs to do is log-in before 2018 is over on any platform and they will receive a free download code for the games on PC. That is as far from a slap in the face for the console players as you can possibly get.

I know, you're about to say that it still doesn't matter because not all console players have super high end computers to run modern games, or maybe no computer at all!.... C'mon, get real here. Practically everyone has a computer of some kind even if it's a shitty laptop. And that shitty laptop will undoubtedly be able to run those games perfectly fine.

Bethesda is giving away Fallout 1, fallout 2, and tactics to everyone!!! Yes! 3 free games to all gamers!!!!!! OH wait. Just for people who purchased or will purchase fallout 76.
I want to make one thing clear, I am not saying they should be giving away the GOTY edition fallout 4.
Really? This is what I can't stand about gamers these days. So many gamers feel they're entitled to everything related to whatever game they like, even if they don't buy the game itself! When you say it's a "ploy" to get people to buy their game..... so what? Tell me how it is a bad thing for Bethesda to not give away free stuff to literally everyone in the world, but instead only their paying customers? Honestly, your argument here sounds no different than complaining that Fallout 4 GOTY Edition is unfair because they should just give the DLC away to all gamers, even those who never bought the game, because.... reasons.

The only thing I can think of that would have made this a bad thing is if it only applied to new customers, but it doesn't. It applies to ALL players.

This reminds me similiar to there 5$ atoms giveaway.
Nope. Totally different. The $5 in atoms was specifically for the people who paid $200 for the collecter's edition, yet did not receive the product as advertised. What made the whole deal with the $5 atoms jacked up is it didn't address the issue. If you paid big money for a collector's edition of any given product.... that's what you wanted to receive. It's like if you bought the Blue-Ray edition of your favorite movie that was supposed to have all these commentaries and deleted scenes, but instead you didn't get those extra goodies, and they just gave you a coupon for a free coke as compensation.

This is nothing like that.... You said you haven't bought or plan on buying 76. If you DID buy the game you obviously would know what you were getting in to, considering how informed you are about the quality of the game (not sarcasm in case you were wondering), so this is nothing at all like the Canvas Bag thing.

    Still wouldn't buy it.

GoG has Fallout 3 GOTY on sale for $9.99 USD (their winter sale).
If you're not familiar with GoG (good old games) you buy a drm free game to download and keep.
They have a money back guarantee. 30 days coverage after purchase.

I appreciate it's not a hard copy but it's not Bethesda either.
Working...
