Bethesda making cheaters and modders write essays

It seems Bethesda is making anyone who is "caught using 3rd party software" write short essays in order to be un-banned.

According to various sources, some players are receiving emails from Bethesda customer support to inform them of their account being suspended due to cheating.

But what makes these emails unique is a paragraph towards the end, which reads:

"If you would like to appeal this account closure, we would be willing to accept an essay on ‘Why the use of third-party cheat software is detrimental to an online game community,’ for our management team to review."
I saw this and laughed. I think maybe us as gamers should have Bethesda write an essay on why repeatedly lying to the consumer base, making unfulfilled promises, releasing a AAA title so unfinished, having an extortionate micro transaction pricing scheme, falsely advertising collectors edition and not to mention the rum debacle is (in their words) detrimental to an online game community, before we un-ban THEM from our game libraries.

Yep. My bf has it on the computer to mod the Dark Souls games.

Also, there are many other uses for cheeatengine, that had nothing to do with multiplayer or cheating, as using it for artistic screenshots, from impossible camera locations, and enabling or disabling shaders and lighting effects.

It definitely presents a problem. It's one thing to detect Cheat Engine software running while the game is connected to the server. It is another to scan a player's computer and it is wrong for them to do that. But they also deleted about 50GB of data from players' computers when the PC Beta opened, too. That was a problem for several of us because the launcher should not have been able to delete files like that. In my case, the data was still there, it just wasn't recognized by their worthless launcher. Even when I renamed the files, I was still forced to download almost the entire game again.
They also haven't taken care of players that exploited (and still exploit) bugs in the game. I haven't been on in weeks so I don't personally know how bad the servers currently are. I've heard that the large amounts of exploited resources some are running around with is putting a strain on them, though. Bethesda needs to fix the bugs and exploits instead of worrying about people with Cheat Engine on their computers. If it is really as bad as some say, then they maybe should just wipe the servers and everyone starts clean.

So they can freely rummage your property in search of your files and documents. How is that ethical or legal.

I recently saw a video stating that only players running Cheat Engine are supposed to be banned. There are players saying that just having Cheat Engine installed on their computer, though not running for 76, has resulted in bans, too. Modders that were banned are not required to write the essay and should contact Bethesda at help.bethesda.net. I've looked at some of the comments on the mods I use from Nexus and haven't seen any saying that they have led to bans. I still haven't been back on, but I will update this later on whether I end up banned for mods or am able to play. lol

Here's the link starting at where LegacyKillaHD is talking about the bans. The official response from Beth starts at 5:50.

How is Bethesda not burnt to the ground from their own heat?

twidget I know. I wish they had just made a normal Fallout game with co-op available. Then players could play as they wanted and with friends, which would have been a nice option. Modders would have fixed everything then. lol

Still waiting for my essay from Bethesda about why it hurts to release broken games using outdating mechanics and engines.

pxfbird If only it were as easy to fix the game as it is to change the music.

Google why PC is... ?? Quick hypothetical: Would you think someone is retarded if they were to tell you the same thing, when you already had a PC with several heavily modded games? I would that's why I ask.

Anyway, back on topic... I never devalued the importance of modding on PCs. Even if I didn't own and play on a gaming PC, this has nothing to do with the importance of the modding community. Also, I never asked for you to randomly start preaching about false ideals on fanboyism. You aren't really retarded, are you?

RIP Bethesda. I'm calling it. After TES6 running on the same turd engine, the outcry will be so loud, that they will go bankrupt sometime thereafter. Maybe that is just my bitterness saying that though. Most people seem to finally be not taking this crap anymore whereas they ate it like birthday cake with Fallout 4 though, so maybe I'll be right. 2018 was the year that the straw broke the camel's back and gamers finally as a whole said no to BS of all types.
