The Outer Worlds, nothing else at the show grabbed much of my attention

In order of my desire for them:

    1) The Outer Worlds: Not just a Spiritual Successor to New Vegas, but I see some elements from KotOR II as well.

    2) Crash Team Racing: Gimme. Gimmegimmegimmegimme.

    3) Mortal Kombat 11: Was always interested to see where they'd go from X. The one catch is that while I'm down for Gear and Moveset customization on pre-existing characters, I still long for the Kreate-A-Fighter to return.

    4) Far Cry New Dawn: Not gonna lie, I liked Far Cry 5. If this retains the Arcade Mode and keeps Far Cry 5's monetisation (Which was good at the time as NO LOOT BOXES) then I might dub it the moniker of "Better Fallout 76".

I still can't believe God of War won. It's weird to say, but the portrayal of the father/son relationship was wholesome and I assumed this would be a turn off to our current crop of judges.

Sonic Fox was the other highlight. I got to see a dude I was a fan of who is on my second favorite e-sports organization insult me and others personally without any repercussion. It's not really about who he was "dunking" on, but it just seems really unprofessional to dunk on anyone while accepting an award and this his org had nothing to say about it. Needless to say I'm not a fan of Sonic Fox or Echo Fox anymore.

I knew for a while, but seeing him do the voice in person was nice.

I share the sentiment of a lot of others in this thread.

The Outer Worlds looked fantastic, although I look forward to seeing more on the gameplay front. The screenshots and information that have come out so far look fantastic. Just wanna be able to experience a new, dedicated first-person RPG with dialogue choices, skill checks, good writing and an open world.

I also thought The Last Campfire looked really intriguing and I'm a sucker for good video game trailers. White Owl - Josh Garrells was a dope choice for the trailer score. Made by 2 people from Hello Games (NMS) too! Hades also looked fun as hell and I was really digging the aesthetic, I found Transistor to be pretty unique so I'll be sure to give it a go when it comes out of early-access. Was obviously surprised to see the Persona 5 X Smash Bros announcement, although a lot of the excitement was lost on me given that I've never been one for Smash in general - I could appreciate how much of a big deal that announcement was though, especially considering it was on launch night for the game.

The Rage 2 trailer was great too, the gunplay looks super satisfying and I can imagine standing up as a solid sandbox to mess about it irrespective of the narrative-design surrounding it. Though I do worry about how they're going to keep the experience interesting and varied across such a large open-world. MK11 was exciting to see especially with such a short announcement - release schedule, as many have said however, 21 Savage took an L on that trailer. They were clearly trying to replicate the success of the "Who's Next?" trailer they did for MKX back in the day but the song choice was far better then imho.

I was suprised that anyone in the board of judges even managed to remember the existence of God of War after having numbed their brains grinding through the weeks worth of overly long animations and unskippable travel scenes in RDR2. But I'm glad they did. God of War might not be as expansive and feature-rich as RDR2, but it is undeniably more of a game, and focused on being a game. Not a movie. Its gameplay isn't just barely there because it has to be like in RDR2. GoW compromises various things for better controls and fluidity. RDR2 compromises controls and fluidity for better visuals. That fact alone should imo disqualify RDR2 from any and all game-related awards possible. Control is what separates games from movies, and the moment you choose to prioritize other aspects at the expense of controls, you are making it less of a game.

What I noticed about the RDR2 soundtrack is that every composition was thematically perfect and it seems that they composed a new song and several variants for nearly every mission in the game. You literally have to play several days straight to find a duplicate song, and no matter what you do you won't find a bad one. That's why RDR2 won best soundtrack.

Outer World!!!!!! I didn't just see a shot at ubisoft i saw a shot at the whole industry. Corporation buying up everything making everything monetized and all your settlers(gamers) are left to rot. I may just be some conspiracy theorist to...... >.>

Over all I was highly disappointed The Game Awards, but I felt the Game of the year was the strong point and I very much felt God of War deserved the recognition.

Oh and I forgot Outer Worlds looks to have a lot of potential!

Outer Worlds was really the only thing I'm interested in from all the premiers. Thought RDR2 was going to take GOTY, but I was pleasantly surprised that GoW won. Wasn't expecting that.
