Valve is being shafted out of a deal without being told beforehand. It's like when Nintendo and Sony were going to make something called a Play Station, and then Nintendo announced they were going with Phillips instead at a trade show. Valve will not forget this, and neither will Steam users who bought the game.

1. You said that there was no option for feedback. There is. Again if the storefront doesn't show reviews go and look on the web. I recommend doing that even for Steam games or in fact for everything you buy.Originally posted by Thomas_JCG View Post
1. Or be used to help anyone. Client Support is visible only to to the sender, and not only it takes ages to be processed, rarely is as helpful as a forum.
2. Hence one of the problems. Why would I use Epic if it is garbage?
3. When did that ever happened? Considering that Fortnite made over three billion bucks last year, the Epic Store should be cutting edge.
4. Would a good guy bribe people? Would a good guy screw other people for profit?
2. If you don't want to use Epic then don't. I don't think you'll be missing out on anything either. They hardly have any games anyway.
3. Yes Epic made a lot of money. Of a F2P game they created. Does that make them villains? The storefront isn't what you wanted so now they should just give up?
What ever happened to constructive criticism?
4. Bribing? Sorry is this about Metro's exclusivity? Like Xbox and PS often have? Like PC games often have? One of the few things Epic can do to attract people to their storefront?
we're simply not going to agree on certain things. My cup is half full and often try to see things both ways. I'm sceptical about the Epic Launcher but wish them luck.

Ever heard of review embargo? Blocking user reviews is just that, only targeted at a group they can't pay off for good reviews.

They have a contact form here : https://epicgames.helpshift.com/a/ep...her/?contact=1Originally posted by Thomas_JCG View Post
Everyone is and always been a critic, the difference is that today we have places appropriate to voice our opinion. Every company worth anything has at least a phone number you can use for assistance or complaints, because consumer feedback is key to improvement.
When a company like Epic shuts down communication between players and developers, they are trying to shield a company from criticism and players from warning potential buyers about the game, and that's really bad for us.
Here you can post consumer feedback, but I guess the posted feedback won't be able to get those sweet sweet likes from the public.
Again, I don't understand the public outrage.
The laucher will end up to be similar to Uplay and Origin. You can't compare it to Steam in it's current state because Steam is more than just a games client.
Steam is a forum, broadcaster, games client, social media platform etc.
Origin and Uplay can exist because EA and Ubisoft have a large amount of IPs. Epic created the laucher in the first place to get maximum revenue from Fortnite transactions.
The Android beta-version for phones/tablets is als not on the Google Store. Again to maximize revenue. If the money that is saved by pulishing through their own platform goes to developers/discounts, then it will get my blessing. If it goes to lining the CEO's pockets then they can go fuck themselves.
The difference between Epic, Origin and Uplay is that Epic seem like the 'good' guys to me. Fortnight's business model isn't as predatory as competitors and if I want any of these Publishers to step up and compete with Steam then it's going to be Epic for me.
Flame on!

Is everyone a critic now? And are companies obliged to give us the space to criticise their products/services?

EXCLUSIVITY IS NOT COMPETITION!
I seriously can't believe we still have to shout this.

In my opinion the fact that you can leave reviews/ comments on Steam is nice to have but doesn't influence my purchasing. I watch twitch and youtube mainly to get an idea of the game.

How can competition be a bad thing? Is not like you have a monthly fee in both stores so I don't get this "console wars" vibe talk...

Yes. Having to leave the store page to go to Metacritic or something is a pointless hassle, never mind that not every game receives extensive reviews elsewhere. Plus, Steam reviews receive special tags like "Received for Free" or "Early Access Review", so you know how much you can trust them.
Epic will never have a review system because it would subject their games to criticism, and the industry is afraid of that. For them to continue to pander to corporations, they have to suppress "bad" reviews.

You are right that there are plenty of other places to leave reviews, but if I am there in the store looking at the game to get and I have to then take time out and go elsewhere to see if I want to buy that game...it really takes away from the business sale. Plus I think it is a good consumer deal to have. But to each their own.Originally posted by Borghir View PostI just made another post wishing Epic good luck and stumbled upon this thread. Is it really that bad that you can't leave reviews? There are a million places on the internet where you can (here for example).
I'm not surprised that Epic is trying to make some exclusive deals. That Fortnite money is going to run out at some point and if they don't have a regular client base then it's game over (pun intended).
What if Exclusively Games included a Steam style review system for Epic on their upcoming website?
