Is Skyrim Actually a Good Game?

I'd not say it's a legend. I preferred oblivion in every way. It's not about how good skyrim is, it's about how little direct competition it has. I played it because there was nothing better to play if I wanted a fantasy open world rpg, where I can create my character from scratch. Sorry, but games like the witcher don't appeal to me at all where you're given an already developed character whether you like it or not.

Tearing into Imperials as a Werewolf on PSVR is terrific fun and everyone should experience it!

Personal opinion, and y'all are probably gonna hate this, but Skyrim is to Western RPG's what Final Fantasy 7 is to JRPG's, completely average material that got over hyped by word of mouth (largely small amount of vocal fans here and there) instead of actual quality. Not saying Skyrin is bad, but people act like it's one of the best games ever made, mostly because it was their first really foray into Western RPG's or RPG's at all, and so they saw something in the game that everyone who had already played several RPG's had already seen for ages and no longer marveled at. It's an average game, with an average story, average combat and slightly advanced for the time AI. But just like Final Fantasy 7, which so many people swear by, it's just not as good in it's genre as everyone thinks it is, especially since Bethesda had already tried to go above what their engine was capable of, causing more than the average amount of glitches for completed games at the time.

This is just my opinion (since whether a game is good or not depends on many factors mostly being the person playing the games likes and dislikes), if you enjoy open world questing than you will probably like skyrim.
One thing for me that i had a hard time getting use to was if you wanted to level a crafting skill it would level your overall character as well. So balancing crafting and fighting skills became a bit difficult for me personally since the enemies leveled with you. I would find myself making different characters for the type of character i wanted.
Skyrim is a very beautiful looking game.
If you enjoy fallout there is a good chance you will enjoy skyrim.
Again just my opinion of it

I could be wrong but i didnt think fast travel was a forced mechanic in skyrim. I havent played in a while but i thought you could get everywhere by walking

but fast travel is something you gotta do, its not a forced mechanic. If fast travel is a neg that means you arent controlling yourself

Skyrim has to be the most played game in my entire library and its not even my favorite game if you can imagine that. What is so good about it is that every new build and new pc piece I get I can install even fancier mods. Example I just got a 2080 last month so i reinstalled Skyrim and installed 4k 3d terrain texture mods and a bunch fo other crazy stuff. My game looks amazing and plays smooth. I can get lost in Skyrim and never get bored.

I prefer Oblivion.
My first Skyrim run I finished in 10 hours because I only did the Dragonborn quests, compared to Oblivion where I put 200+ hours it was an immense disappointment, months later I learned that all side-quests are not linked to the main quest and went back to play 200+ hours to complete all. It's a good game, but I think Oblivion storyline and progression was deeper and better.

It did, but you actually got faster if you walked. It would literally increase your athletics. My character could walk faster than horses.

It looks good but is too linear (+ the fast travel) --- ES: 3 and 4 are better.

Skyrim was enjoyable, but it dumbed down the series. It wasn't GOTY or GOAT. I loved Oblivion far more even though it is buggy as hell. It was the same way between fallout 3 and 4.

IMHO Skyrim is a very okay-ish game. What makes it stand out, really, is the modding community. Those guys made the game legendary.

I agree with almost everything the guy in the video says, but he loses me when he says it's a bad game. His criticisms are valid and Bethesda can improve upon them, but I think he's missing the point. Skyrim is fun and still is in my opinion, and that's what makes a game good.
Skyrim is dated by today's standards, but I remember seeing the vanilla version on the highest PC settings and thought it was one of the best looking games I've ever seen. I didn't enjoy the story as much as Oblivion, but I was compelled to follow along until the very end and can't say it was bad.
Honestly though, it's the mods that make this game amazing for me. Vanilla is ok, but it's the mods that make me keep coming back.
