I'm pretty confident that CDPR are going to come out with something really special, they've been working on this game (at-least conceptually) for nearly 6 years now and they're clearly uncompromising when it comes to their vision for what an RPG in the CyberPunk universe could look/play like. Like many I was rather apprehensive when I heard that it was a FPS-only experience given that so many of us naturally envisioned this game to be The Witcher 3 but in a futuristic, dystopian society - but I'll be the first to admit that gameplay demo they showed off in August changed my mind. It's a damn shame for those that (like OP) for whatever reason it may be, are unable to play FPS games without experiencing some kind of nausea or motion sickness, however it's clear to me at least that CDPR believed that CyberPunk would be best experienced from a POV perspective and I can't really fault them for making a creative decision like that.

Immersion is obviously going to be a key-focus for the player in this world and emulating a sense of ambience, tone and/or soundscape is a lot easier to do when you're in first-person imho. RDR2 stands as a testament to third-person immersion being possible, though it seems like they've built a lot of the mechanics (i.e. Ripper Docs, Cybernetic modifications, driving/combat sequences etc) around the first-person nature of the game.

Regardless though, it wouldn't surprise me if there's a third-party mod released down the line that allowed players to choose. They've already said that there are going to be times during the game where you see your character in third-person, so technically it would be possible.

Excited for the concept, but cautious due to the developer. I think the Witcher series is blatantly overrated, as I couldn't finish any of the three.

I'm very excited! But I'm only worried the game may not run well enough on my PC. Might consider getting a console just to play it smoothly enough since its single player.

When they first showed it, it reminded me of Crackdown and I lost all interest in it. If the game ends up different than how the trailer felt, then I might look into it again.

Cautiously optimistic. While I generally don't like this type of sci-fi, Cyberpunk has a special place in my heart from my table top days. I can only hope they do it right as they did Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.

I'm looking forward to it, but I will wait and see how it goes before I decide to make a purchase.

I'm excited. I would love if the team disable the autoregenerative health (Not a huge fan of it).

It definitely has the potential to go both ways in my opinion, but I'll give it a try if I hear good things about it.

Cyberpunk is definitely the "coming soon™" game that I am the most interested in currently. Can't wait til it releases, and I hope CDPR doesn't let us down (not that I have any reason to think they will.)

I'm not huge on the settings or themes. The closest I came to enjoying the CyberPunk genre was old Shadowrun. Still, if you told me one of my favorite game franchises of all time would be set in potion crafting heavy Polish monster fighting lore I'd have told you that you were crazy. I have all the faith in the world that CDPR will deliver something I want to play.

Very excited as I love the cyberpunk theme and artistic direction. Not particularily a CDPR fan but have great respect for them and expect greatness.

It has a great deal of promise and I am looking forward to finally playing it. The First Person view is nearly a necessity given how you interact with the world and how your augments function. The demo reinforced the need for first person for me. IF CDPR sticks with their track record of strong story with interesting, interactive world; I have very high hopes for this game. I hope the side quests that one stumbles across are more varied than the Witcher 3.

Neither. I'm intrigued. So not super excited but nor am I careless about its existence.

My hot take: the fact that it's going to be first-person only is almost certainly a deal breaker for me. Not only do I have no interest in first person games, they make me feel sick. I never get travel sick - car, plane, train, boat - no problems at all.

But FP games just make me nauseous. Changing the field of view does nothing. I even felt sick after playing Uncharted Lost Legacy after ten minutes. That's a third person game. I switched off the motion blur completely and was fine after that.

I'll be honest, I'm not really a fan of the whole dystopian future thing. I absolutely adore Philip K Dick books, for example, but his characters and plots are generally second rate in my opinion. What Dick REALLY excels at is taking a world and making it implode in on itself, absolutely breaking your mind in the process. I thought he did this especially well in Ubik and The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch and if you haven't read any of these books then read Valis as well, because it's completely batshit insane and you will thank me for it later.

But I digress. I was probably about a 7/10 interest in this game when I thought it would be a third person like Witcher. Mike Pondsmith seems like an incredibly cool guy, I am sure that CD-Project will do a great job and I understand that the tabletop game is amazing.

But as I said, barring a miracle, a first person shooter will not work for me, and I don't really have any interest in that genre anyway.

I REALLY hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Are you excited for this game? Or do you think you will be disappointed as it's not going to be what you thought it might be?
I'm hesitantly excited. But 3rd person perspective is my favorite, it's easy to combat in 3rd person. Also, I prefer 3rd person because I like seeing the character it took me 2 hours to create.

I'll give everyone who is not familiar with Cyberpunk 2020 a piece of advice: Avoid finding out about Cyberpunk 2020. As long as you don't know what that game is like, you'll probably enjoy 2077 more. It will be a better game for you if you have no idea what you have missed. I'm going to be expecting almost nothing, so maybe there will be something and my surprise will be a net positive.
