I shall exalt God Ash till the angels hie him up to heaven. This ancient game is well known among my folk, the druids, and we still enjoy it to this day. I have 99 magic, herblore and runecrafting.

I never played Runescape. I had some friends that started on UO and we all played EQ but while some of them tried RS we never got into it. After EQ stuff like AC and DAoC were stuff we chased, until WoW of course then we all found ourselves playing the same game again. It's cool to see RS still talked about, makes me realize I missed something special.

I was in the same boat! I didn't play everquest or ultima since I thought it wasn't F2P at the time. So I stuck with RS until my brother got me hooked to Vanilla WoW and told me of the Time Card's you can buy from gamestop (a Lifesaver!) When I heard RS came back and it was on mobile, I immediately jumped on it and I'm lvling my guy until I get to a certain point and then try members for the first time in my life!

Those were the days. I played from '06 to around 2011 or so when they made the Evolution of Combat update which turned into "RS3." One of the last things I remember is how I didn't like they were making the game too easy. In particular I grinded to get 99 Runecrafting, the hardest skill in the game, but shortly after they made something called Runespan which was like 10x faster than the older methods of training. Dunno if RC is a common skillcape to have now, but it would kinda suck if it was. Worked so hard to get it the old-fashioned way.Originally posted by Trippy Logic View PostConsidering "old school" is a new release based on what the game was like in 2007 you might actually like it

Old School has already evolved quite a lot with updates so it doesn't really feel like the original anymore either, but that is okay. It has been better than what the maingame did, but it is still introducing too much lazy unbalanced content. I think as long as more and more casual players come on board, the more that imperfect ideas will pass polls and make it into the game. For example the new shark fishing method was added while fishing trawler is still the worst method for anything at all levels.

I play OSRS pretty heavily. I got back into it for a nostalgia kick after hearing of the mobile release and got addicted again. I've got a really chill and helpful clan as well so it's even more fun than it was when I was a kid."Are you Left or Right?"
Bruh I'm just chillin'.

yeah I also find that having a clan makes it a lot more chill. People don't do much rando chatting at skilling places like they used to. I know I play it while watching/listening to other stuff often so my focus is off the game chat a lot. I like to do skilling and listen to podcasts and long form youtube videos. I wish I could stand listening to Joe Rogan because his shows last forever and would be perfect for runescape.

Shammy is really good for lengthy videos with great content, but they're specifically about games.
Got any party hats you wanna sell? xD

I remember people at the lobster fishing spot while I was F2P always talking trash on Wow and saying it was a rip-off of RS. Lol, good times.

yeeesssss. WoW is still bad though

I don't participate in black market sale of party hats. I've seen too many good men go down that dark road. Too many put behind bars for that crime. So many end up in the varrock slums that way. It's no life I want to live.Originally posted by Merlin View Postyeah I also find that having a clan makes it a lot more chill. I'll check out this "shammy" though to be sure I have the right place I'd appreciate a link. I don't care if its gaming related, I'm obviously interested in the topic. I like learning stuff sure, but I like to know gaming stuff too. There is one guy I'll have to find who did some huge video essays on bethesda's games and interviewed a couple of the Original creators of the Elder Scrolls games which are both like 3 hours long I've yet to dig into.

I don't even play Paladins or Overwatch and still enjoyed this video of his immensely.

yeah the mobile version is surprisingly playable. Its actually quite impressive all things considered.Originally posted by Björn Ironside View PostMy group of friends and I played in highschool quite a lot. My brother and I would fight over who got to play when we came home from school all the time. Spent many late nights playing it back in the day. Got the mobile version recently, but haven't put much time into it.
