So "Tales of Vesperia definite edition." is coming out this friday.
Anyone else than me excited about that? Anyone else than me fan of the "Tales of." games.
I gotta say, I love these games... For the most part. They are well written, has funny characters and funny dialogue, they always focus on world building and character building. They know what they are, and it's quite delightful.
Sadly "Tales of Zesteria." was.... Not very god. It is one of the most boring Tales games in the franchise, HOW-ever! Tales of Berseria made up for that with an excellent story, villain and well... The first solo female main character in a Tales game turned out to be FANTASTIC! Velvet was a GREAT character! now THAT is how you do female lead, her emotional journey was very harsh, she was vulnerable and did wrong things but had a journey, she was great.
Anyhow! Back to "Tales of Vesperia."
This game is by many thought of to be one of the best Tales games, I don't know, I never got my hands on it. My favorite thus far is "Tales of the abyss."
The reason why I never got my hands on it is because back in the day it was ONLY released on the X-box 360 back in the day, and I had a playstation.
Later it was re-made into a PS3 version in Japan, but that version never made it to the west. So I was surprised to see THIS one making it to the west, but I am glad.
Again, people call it one of the very best Tales games, and from what i've seen from it, it looks great.
I've been wanting to play it for years, so I am so happy to finally get the chance. To bad it is going to be overshadowed soon, it is kind of going to function as my warm up to Kingdom Hearts 3 coming out only two weeks later, heh.

Oh yeah that too.
You are going to have a total of nine party members in this. Originally it was just seven, but two extra has been added in the definite edition.
Though... It will be quite a while before you get ALL of them, party members kind of joins and leaves all the time doing the first half of the game.

That just seems to remove any challenge from the game, but okay, if you want to play just for the story. That's good to.

You don't have to start over to get the free DLC, you just need to go into your item menu in the game and unpack what you downloaded.

yeah, that is one of the things I DID like about Ni No Kuni 2, return of the world map and actually making it interesting, it actually has changing enviroments.
Though I did prefer the world map of Ni No Kuni 1, heck when you got a Dragon in that game and could FLY above the world map, that was so well made! I would love to see that again.
Yeah really felt that sense of. "WOOOOW! I'm FLYYYING!" which is such a rare feeling in games these days, back in the old days though, that was the feeling you got every time you finally got a air ship in Final Fantasy XD
Ni No Kuni was a PS3, so yeah, it must be one of those handfuls of games you referred to lol.
I will though say a game that had a great compromise was Xenoblade Chronicles 1, the world exploration in that game?! Holy balls that is amazing.

Yes, last Tales game to have a world map, and one of last JRPGs. You can count with one hand JRPGs that came out after this game and had a world map that you can explore. I don't like this trend.Originally posted by TheDorkyDane View Post
World maps like this has made a little bit of a return some places like last years Ni No Kuni 2, but man, it is RARE to see them anymore. Heck from what I remember this was the last Tales game to have it.

Well I have been playing for many hours straight now lol.
Oh man, memories are coming back to me. You can tell this is an older game.
Fixed camera inside any city or dungeon, the world map being very condensed and just.... green and trees.

I like it though, it's really funny you can tell these things are from an older time, but I think it still works. The game looks nice, it plays nice, I like that stuff that should be simple still is simple. The battle and equipment system for me has become WAY to convoluted in Zestiria and Berseria, it is nice to be reminded of a simpler time. I absolutely prefer this system on both accounts.
Yuri is funny, he has zero craps to give about anything, this amuses me.
I am having a good time with this so far.

I missed out on this game during the xbox 360 gen, so I'm glad to be getting another chance to play it (along with the extra content that didn't come here before). I've played Phantasia, Destiny, Eternia, Symphonia, Abyss, Xillia, Vesperia, and Beseria. Zestiria is among my favorite games of the series, but different strokes for different folks.Last edited by RetroRex; 01-11-2019, 11:12 PM.
