You, sir, have good taste. KCD got my vote but it's very possible it might have gone to Kingmaker if I had actually played it. I'm still waiting to start it to give them some time to fix the bugs, but feeling quite excited about it. PoE II was a close second for me as well.

I'm with you on this one. Was a bit skeptical at first, but after learning the mechanics it was refreshing. Haven't played any of the DLC yet. But on the whole the story and combat mechanics made me want to keep going.

I'd agree with this myself, DQXI is a fantastic game.

I'll second Ryan on your avatar too, Suikoden 2 is still one of my favourite games 20 years on.

Yep, my vote would be Odyssey as well. Loving the game, exploring all the nooks and crannies of every island and hunting legendary loot is so much fun and the Greek setting is spot on.

My vote goes to Pathfinder: Kingmaker despite the shaky and bugged launch. It being an Indie game makes me more forgiving compared to games from the likes of Bethesda. But I also enjoyed Kingdom Come and Pillars of Eternity II.

Kingdom Come Deliverance, with all of its bugs/flaws, takes it for me. Love the setting and the fact that its based off actual history. Bohemia is a big part of my family history, so that also makes it a winner for me.

It’s been my favorite game since 1999.

Granted, I enjoy many games almost as much, such as Lunar 2(Sega CD version), Grandia, Dragon Quest 5, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 6, Skies of Arcadia, Super Mario Bros 3, The Legend of Zelda(yes the original), Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, Mega Man 3, Dune 2, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Catherine, Turtles in Time etc.

Nothing has been able to dethrone Suikoden 2 yet though.

What is the other game in your top 2?

For me Dragon Quest XI takes the crown.

I'll give an honorable mention to Valkyria Chronicles 4.

    Fallout 76.

No, I'd also have to give it to Odysee. Certainly my favorite game of this year.

Definitely, BY FAR MH World, the game just has so much content, and its so enjoyable that i spent 2 weeks of my life living this game. The challenge, the weapon and armor crafting and consumables system are among the best and most varied ive ever seen in an RPG. The fact that it allows quick and constant build and weapon changes allow for you to learn and experience multiple playstyles in a single run.
The story is not a major focus, but its definitely not bad, you can feel how passionate the devs are through the atmosphere and the details.
Post launch support: MH World has extremely frequent free content updates and events, close to an year after its launch, and they have announced a HUGE expansion pack with high dificulties, new maps and monsters that is to be released next year.
AC Odyssey to me wasnt bad per se, but while it did a lot, i didnt find myself that much invested in what it offered me and ended up not finishing the game.
I diddnt play DQ XI, but i watched a streamer play it and to be honest, it looked interesting, but i felt like it moved i bit too slow for a turn based RPG and the games own duration. Dont get me wrong, the story was pretty good, character development was decent, but it had a lot of unnecessary dialogue and other factors that stretched it for more than id like.

    Agreed.

I enjoyed it enough to get the Platinum trophy.
