No announcement yet.
I've played Persona 5 for 35 hours so far and it's a deep dark hole of JPRG goodness.

Played it a lot when if came out. Didn't want to spoil myself so have to go out of my way and stay out of the internet sites that might give out spoilers (especially social media). It's one of those games that I think doesnt get a lot of the attention it deserves even though it's much better than most of the JRPGs that came out during that year.

Before Persona 5 came out, Hashino gave a great interview that's worth a read. Learning about his thought process is actually what made me pull the trigger on the game (besides the amazing, stylish debut trailer)

Compared to 1 yeah, but for me personally it's just a bit too dated. Also you can play p4g on pstv, I got one on sale for 60 , wich beats buying a vita.Originally posted by Drann View Post
I'd say 2 is still very playable, but I really struggle with the dungeon exploration aspect of the first game.
I really enjoyed 3 and 4 also, although I wish P4G was available outside of the Vita.

Persona 5 is a great game, but still have to say that Persona 4 beat it, although narrowly. That might just be because I played Persona 4 Golden though, and the only reason I prefer P4G is that it felt like there was just a whole lot more story content there, so the characters all felt a lot more fleshed out than they did in P5.
I remember how excited I was about Makoto when I got to see her Persona the first time, and was hoping for a significant change in her personality, but that sadly just never happened. (She is still best girl though.)
I'm still hoping that there will be some more content for Persona 5 coming out. Seeing as at least Persona 3 and 4 all had several additional releases with more added content, [mild spoilers ahead] and seeing as Persona 5 ended earlier in the year than the previous games did, I am hoping there might come an additional chapter in the fairly large time gap after the last dungeon.

I've only just read this (missed it earlier), I'd absolutely say it's worth giving the emulation scene another go in order to play some old and potentially hard to find classics. I'd be more than happy to help you get things running if you'd like, but I'm not sure how in-depth I should go on the forum as it is a bit of a grey area, and I'm not sure whether it's a taboo topic here or not.Originally posted by JackofTears View PostI wish the Persona games would come out on PC, I have had no luck with emulators.
Yeah, absolutely. I pushed the Dr. (Death arcana) confidant as soon as I could, and managed to get through the entire game while only making coffee once.Originally posted by RaptureReady View Post
The dr is death confidant. Def worth ranking. Like what was said, the sp bonus is def worth it since sp recovery items are few and you dont want to waste every evening making coffee

I am into my 70th hour of persona 5 and loving the hell out of it. It is my first persona game ever. It is def unlike any other rpg i have ever played. There is a little bit of strategy involved with making sure you make every day count and keeping a balance between ranking up confidants and spending time in momentos and training your personal skills. When i read about a game that is 100 hrs plus, i was skeptical. Usually i see 100 hrs+ on open world games like fallout and skyrim but not on a linear/story rpg. Honestly it hasnt even felt like 70 hrs. There is no dull moment either. Never a moment of "ok... so now what". Finish one palace and instantly it introduces the next part of the story for the next one.

P5 is my favorite game ever and I've played it twice. It's inspired some of my own writing in some ways. Hell I even cried at the end the second time around. I'm gonna do an Arsene only run at some point in the future for fun and try to 100% the game.

Also max out the fortune teller, she can boost SL confidants affinity at level 10 I think. And obviously have a persona of the same arcana as the confidant you're trying to level up equipped.

I'm a huge fan of the Persona games and I didn't think anything would be able to trump P4 for me, I'm very glad to have been proven wrong on that account. If I did have an issue (not so much a complaint) it's that your first play-through can easily push over 100 hours, and while I adore long games I must admit I ended up a little fatigued. It was absolutely worth pushing through and finishing off though, and honestly I played in such a way as to maximise the amount of free time I had as well as partaking in a bit of grinding so I probably extended my time played.
If you're struggling to get the things you want done during your free time (which I think is a given to be honest), I'd recommend maxing out the maid arcana, as you'll eventually be able to call her for a massage which will let you go out for a second time during the evening. It's also worth getting the doctor up to a certain level (I forget which, I think it might be 7?) as it'll let you buy the rank 3 SP based clinic equipment for the best discount. They really help with dungeon running as you'll not be struggling with SP anywhere near as much.
I'm tempted to start NG + now!

Totally agree, I love Persona 5. It's the best JRPG I've played in a long long time. I just recently finished P4G and that's awesome as well, but Persona 5 beats it, just.
I love the Tokyo setting. I actually visited Sangenjaya when I was in Tokyo (the real life place Jongenjaya is based on) and took some photos.
I also did a tour of Steins Gate locations. Probably the best Visual Novel I've read, the anime is awesome as well.Last edited by Tech_0ne; 12-17-2018, 06:05 PM.

And the great thing is even after finishing it, you probably missed a lot of content that you can find in ng+ .
And then you even have Persona 3 and 4 to enjoy wich are fantastic games and are still enjoyable today, Persona 1 and 2 do have great storys, but oh boy, those just aged horribly.
I really enjoyed 3 and 4 also, although I wish P4G was available outside of the Vita.
