I stopped playing RDR2 to play this when I got it for my birthday and haven’t went back yet, that was a month ago. I’m currently level 54, I did think it was a bit of a grind but I’m still enjoying it. I like how the enemies difficulty will scale up with you as you level up which keeps the difficulty up and makes the right selection of special abilities you chose vital to how you play, and I like how you can change the appearance of your gear and weapons so that you don’t have to discard any gear you want to keep even if you don’t like the look of it. I’m not even finished the main quest line and I still have loads of Greece left to explore. Haven’t noticed any major game breaking bugs as of yet either.

I love the new direction that AC franchise is taking with first origins and now odyssey. Latter one seams like more polished origins with a lot of quality of life improvments. That being said i enjoyed it so much. Praying for Feudal Japan AC soon.

I'll be getting around to this game next year. It will be the second AC game that garnered my attention. The first was Black Flag.

Well, as I am a completionist I usually sweep every corner of the game and I found out that as I was doing all the optional areas and most of the sidequests (the "big" sidequests only, though. I didin't do the small quests with the grey markers and I haven't done any notice board side stuff), I was still comfortably keeping myself a couple levels above the necessary.Originally posted by AlienTenno View PostHello Chris , I to love the setting in AC:Odyssey , i bought the Gold edition (with i thought was really good value) , my only gripe about game is the slowed down EXP gain if you don't purchase the boosters with Helix points , which imo marrs the the game alot , though its not a game crusher it's still a pain say from LvL 35 onwards to progress , also i found it strange not to use shields in AC:Odyssey ? Spartans , with spears and shields ? lol
I think the boosters are for people who want to do the main quest lines only. In that case, well, it's their choice, but IMHO it's like playing only the main quest in Skyrim and complain that it's short and you don't have fast enough progression. It's not what the game is about.
That being said, though, leveling from about 35 to 50 IS indeed very slow. I don't think it's a problem for the main story (stories), but I did feel the lack of progression there. Purely for that feeling of a new skill point and being able to level up the armour once more. But still I think it's not as bad as to force you into boosters.
If you're somewhere between lvl 40-45, you visited several tombs for extra skill points and have tonnes of legendary gear, you can easily tackle things five levels above you, if yu don't want to spend time doing the side stuff.
I have to say that the choice of weaponry was a bit surprising for me, too, the lack of shield in particular. But I got over it once I realized that they deliberately broadened the weaponry for the main character to further the "RPG feel". Plus it kind of makes sense, story-wise. And there is still enough annoying shield-bearers among the mobs.
