Just updated and... my god, they made the in-game store of their BETA GAME even more 'mobile' than before! It stuffs a 'Featured' screen in your face, 'enticing' you to buy gems. Which is ironic since Arena isnt supposed to get a mobile port if I am correct. And it is also still against EU law by still not mentioning tax anywhere. I guess the only step forward is that there is no currency toggle anymore where they could scam Europeans with.

Haha I love that. At lower ranks it took me 2-3 games to figure out their win condition because the players just copied the meta with out knowing how to play it. Every time I felt like "at this point they have drawn half their deck, they have enough removal to buy enough time to get the second half, why are they not winning?"Originally posted by TheSHEEEP View PostHaha, yeah, the store interface is... well, I've grown pretty numb to any kind of store interface, since I usually ignore them entirely.
The MtG Arena store is probably the first in-game store I've used ever since Path Of Exile came out.

This is exactly the type of thing I expected to happen. And still people miss the point.... *rolls eyes*

New code for 3 Allegiance boosters:
PlayAllegiance
Arena got me back into magic after my LGS closed.
I don't think Wizards will put it out of beta before they do the first rotation (that is, 6 months from now when M20 releases?) and that will be the moment I decide wether to stick to the game or not.
I hope they will add some kind of eternal format, but looking at how they are managing the current 5th card, I bet they will turn rares and mythics into gems and uncommons and commons into vault progress, instead.

The daily rewards seem all about playing, though, and not winning. Why isn't the poster in that link mentioning those?
But it seems like the grind is real for some players. Sometimes you face 3 consecutive RDW matchups and if they play their hand and can't win in 5 turns, they sometimes end up scooping on the spot. In the other times, you just lose. Cute. Really fun, Wizards. So far it only happened to me once, but if it starts happening more I'll move over to other games. As the posts mention, it just becomes more profitable to have short games, so people with 40%WR get their daily wins faster.
The funny thing is that you see people adapting and play lifegain-decks. As a result, I'm sure mono-red players are going to "shop" for matchups by scooping within the first 3 turns. Maybe they should restrict people from scooping way too early (even though it's their right)?

Yea I got lucky with some boosters and daily rewards so I built a RDW deck. My god its effective, even with out knowing how to play it at a decent level I got 71% win rate within the first 20 games. Its just too fast
Ive been thinking about a game mode where each player individually could ban 3-4 cards, just to force people to be more creative. Say you ban Steamkin, Teferi, wildgrowth, and enigma drake. After the ban you would not face decks with those cards in them. Then you would see more variation because I feel like the step beneath top tier there are a lot of fun alternatives. Honestly RDW is just not fun, its way to fast and now with Risk Factor and the new card advantage thing its just too powerful in a bo1 format

I've been voicing that idea in other cardgames. Just have the option to ban certain cards from casual. Problem solved right? It's so simple... Is it too hard to code or program? The game knows the decklists in advance, right?
In practice, it wouldn't REALLY stimulate creativity cuz people won't care. But they will once people do it in big numbers and they'll queue up for minutes. It's a good way to make a "true" casual mode instead or making it "grinder's grove".

I've had some strange events happen to me the last two days that made me wonder... have people really lost the ability to read and think?
Following situation:
I play a deck based around Phylactery Lich (I know, I know, I'm surprised myself that it actually does well, even if following story doesn't occur). The gist is, the creature is invulnerable as long as I have an artifact in play that has a certain token on it.
What can you do to get rid of the Lich? 1. Exile it. 2. Destroy/exile all artifacts with such a token. 3. Render it useless with some enchantment (never untaps, can't attack/block, etc.).
Other than that, it's rather hard to get rid of.
Now, I played about six rounds with the deck the last two days (I don't play THAT often), won five of them (the one I lost was mana screw... shit happens).
But in three of those that I won - against different players! -, the opponent would repeatedly (!!!!) try to -X/-X or destroy the Lich, which obviously won't do shit.
In one case, the opponent even wasted a spell on the Lich that could have been used to instead destroy the artifact that keeps the Lich alive. Twice.
This is not in bronze or silver league, either, but gold league. So people there, one would assume, know what "indestructible" means (plus the game explains it) and are capable of following instructions written on a card. At the very least after their attempt failed the first time.
I don't ... I just don't... the hell is wrong with people?Last edited by TheSHEEEP; 02-07-2019, 12:33 PM.

Is it just me or does the cardpool for the daily ICRs rather fixed to the same cards? I've gotten 4 Aethershield Artificers the last 3 days....

I did not have individual card repetitions from them, but every single card I ever got from it were from the Ixalan block. Which means their value (or the time you can do anything with them) basically drops by the minute. I don't even put Ixalan cards in any decks any more because I know I'll just have to replace them shortly.
