I made a pdf file, because I feel its more comfortable reading than a long text in the forum.
Its a rewritten of an old review, I did years ago. I hope to improve my English more and more for each review I'll be making in the future.

JackofTears Yep pretty much sums it up. Actually Beamdog has the enhance version of planescape torment, its better to just buy that one.

Planescape, not planetscape. This game is not set in the same world and has almost nothing to do with Planescape but a few easter eggs for the players of that first game.
'Tides of Numenera' is a fine game. It is very dialogue heavy and not voice acted, so you have to do a tremendous amount of reading to get through the game. Combat is easily avoided and not that strong - mechanically - so it's best avoided when you can. The characters are interesting but mostly lacking in content, and one of the best characters - a little girl - is almost entirely useless, mechanically. The story is nothing special and the protagonist has no personality but the world is beautifully crafted and delivered.
I would recommend the game if you can get it for under $20.

Thank you so much!Originally posted by SnarkyJay View PostI was a huge fan of the original Planescape Torment. It was a fantastic world to explore, and the story was awesome. I haven't tried the new one yet, but maybe I'll check it out. Thanks for the review! It gives me an idea of what I'm getting myself into.

Be prepared to read a lot, Planescape is more about the story and visuals, than the gameplay. It might discourage you, because it has a very slow tempo at the beginning. The story isn't compelling at first, but crucial to understand the philosophical message; What does one life matter.Originally posted by Resurrection7 View PostHowever, could you provide a bit more information (without spoiler) as to your thoughts on the story and conflict as a non-Planetscape gamer? Thank you!
So basically, if it exciting gameplay you're looking for, don't waste your money. If it's a story and exploring a world of the wildest imagination, then this game is for you.

Ifnir, I read the review and have some followup questions for you. You do bring up Tides is a spiritual successor to Planetscape. However, as someone who has never played that game, I don't really have a frame of reference. I have been on the fence of pulling the trigger on a purchase of this game. I know you mention the Changing God and the Sorrow. However, could you provide a bit more information (without spoiler) as to your thoughts on the story and conflict as a non-Planetscape gamer? Thank you!

I was one of the poor schmucks who backed this game within minutes of it going up on Kickstarter. They made us a lot of promises about size and content, most of which they fell short of; the final product - after they made several times what they were asking - didn't even live up to their base promises, much less the stretch goals. The game was several years late, despite having less content than promised, and then went into Early Access on Steam, giving people, who hadn't even supported the kickstarter, access to the game earlier than people who paid 4 times as much for access to the beta. They also used part of the money we raised for the game to fund Wasteland 2.
The writing is often lovely, but the story is weak and unmemorable, the protagonist is boring and lifeless, the companions are okay but leave something to be desired, and the game ends abruptly when you imagine yourself only 3/4 through the story. The world is beautiful and interesting, and to answer the OP's question, it is based on a Tabletop Roleplaying Game called Numenera, by Monte Cook - which he based on the works of Jack Vance and Gene Wolfe. Similarly, Planescape: Torment is based on an rpg setting for D&D, called Planescape.
From what I've seen of reviews, if you didn't back the kickstarter, you're more likely to enjoy the game.

Glad you liked!
It'll be a good time to buy it now, 67% off now. Will not justify buying it for full price.
