  • Steredenn, your own slice of bullet-hell.

For those that enjoy a good bullet-hell shoot em up, I can't recommend Steredenn enough, here's why. Steredenn is a side-scrolling space shooter and it's you against a massive fleet of space pirates. After a number of waves of enemies, you get a boss fight. But what sets this game ahead of the others is just how good it feels to die and try again. The waves are different between runs and the boss stages have multiple bosses you could be facing, keeping things fresh between deaths. The game brings a rogue-like feel with the dropping of random weapons and upgrades between stages as well. The weapons that drop from cargo ships mid level range from the normal bullet firing kind to flame throwers and swords There are also multiple ships to unlock that each have a different play style. The first ship is your standard ship with decent mobility and a cool melee special, this was originally the only ship available until the game hit the Switch and got a few big updates. The second ship is my favorite as it moves a little slower but has more armor and a special called "Rocket Circus" that launches a cloud of seeking missiles. Another very important thing this update brought with it, cooperative gameplay. Playing co-op gets a bit crazy at times with so much happening, but I very much enjoy dying repeatedly with friends.

So the mechanics for this game are enough to set it apart from many SHMUPS, but the fun don't stop there. The general feel of this game is created by both the little comedic bit like flavor text on bosses and by the killer soundtrack. The music in this game is outstanding. Steredenn sports an instrumental metal soundtrack that keeps the blood pumping. I actually throw the music on when I workout sometimes, seriously give it a listen on the you tubes.

I played a bit of Steredenn. Yeah, it was fun for a couple of hours and the daily challenge was a nice touch. I haven't played it in a while though.

Good to know, I like shmups and this one went complete out my radar.
I think the last shmup I played on PC was Super Hydorah.
