Hear Bloody Hear!
The community has been great, so much positivity and good energy coming into 2019 can only be a good thing.
A big part of why I backed as soon as I was able was because I saw this as an opportunity to return to the escapism-lead attitude that games media, even the once-appropriately titled "escapist" once engendered. This site, and the discord behind it feels like a return to that time, the wild west of an open fandom, which incorporates good ideas and encourages growth in each other.
When I was young, 13 or 14 or so, I attended my first major LAN tournament, matchbox360's Halo3 open, with the clan I joined up with after I left the PC gaming community (long story), It was at that tournament that I first felt the rush of something real, I had played CS.S/1/.6 and UT in a few scrimmages before then, but never something that was quite so grand as taking a seat between 2 much older men, picking up a 360 controller and... getting the absolute crap kicked out of myself on isolation.
We came 3rd overall, we split a pot of £250, and I went home from Birmingham, for the first time with a real sense of purpose in my young life.
In the last few years that had gone away, battered on all sides by attempts to make the hobby something it never really was for me, I became an adult, got a "real job" and tried to settle down.
When the EG project was announced, I felt that rush again, like the first hit after a month's long dry spell, I felt like something real was happening, and I had to be a part of it.
Dust, Vort, Zugzwang, and everyone I have had the pleasure of interacting with in the short time we have been together, Thank you, this is going to be awesome.
