Doesn’t that sound like a badass name? Mace Griffin Bounty Hunter for PlayStation 2 was a game that I like to call “book cover” games because whenever I buy ps2 games that are cheap, all I see is the spine of the cover since it was in a display case so I had not too much of a choice but buy it based on the spine or familiarity. Besides it’s 4 for 10 on ps2 games so loss or not, it’s a nice display piece on a bookshelf. It’s voiced by Henry Rollins who is a Rolling Stones editor which seems so badass it’s on the back of the box; and it was made by Vivendi Universal who made Simpsons Hit and Run so everything seems promising. Here was my initial reaction of the first 10 minutes of the game:
I put the game in and some badass music plays for the intro along with some gameplay of the game so I became hyped for the game...then a 5 minute cutscene comes in and talks about the lore of the Mace Griffin universe so my hype dips, then another cutscene plays but it’s in ps2 graphics and then finally, I can play the game. Looking up and down was inverted in this FPS game so I went back to the menu and fixed the controls because all my instincts in a FPS game is to look down by pressing down on the L stick, but it’s up to look down. I start the game again and I realize the 5 minute cutscene is unskippable so now I’m peeved. And the PS2 graphics cutscene has 12-13 scenes that you have to skip by pressing X so I’m more peeved. And finally I get to play the game.
The game is...alright? The one thing that makes it stand out is the gunplay because of the alternate fire. Shotguns can click up to 4 shells to make a 4 shotgun burst, revolvers has like a Glock 18 automatic fire because space guns, etc. There was a point in the game where I was completely stuck in the game because a bridge exploded and backed into the bridge and I fell down a floor. There was no way to get back up there and I had to start back INTO THE BEGINNING! THIS IS DOGSHIT GAME DESIGN!!!
After finishing the first level the second level goes 10 years later because Mace Griffin’s badass self has got jailed for 10 years for some war crimes. So ten years pass, and you’re in this space station to find this alien who gives out bounty’s. The space station was too big to find this one guy even though there 6 rooms. So you find this alien who looks like a Jackel from Halo and he talks like a human being and you have to find this technology cult. So you’re in a space fight and the space fight falls flat. It doesn’t feel satisfying when you kill people, especially with the EPIC MUSIC playing in the background. So you kill everyone and you have to land. It was quite confusing to land to the point where I accidentally killed myself and I have to KILL THESE FOOLS ALL OVER AGAIN! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMO’F-INGREEEEEEEEEEEEE.
It makes me wonder if you I shut the game off. Well I did...at the middle of the level. So I landed and there’s a big room with ceiling turrets and these cultists who has these Windows 98 desktops as a helmet. So I killed some people with a new sniper rifle, and I don’t know what to do after doing that. It took me 10 minutes of walking around and finding stragglers until I find this one room with more ceiling turrets. I looked through some camera feed and that’s when I’m done playing the game
Overall it’s a good game FOR $2.50. I feel bad for anyone who bought this game new for 50+ dollars to deal with my disappointment. I give it a pass out of 10

I just finished reading.
The pacing is nice !
I would suggest a bit of proofreading though to remove any weird sounding phrases though
Like "There was a point in the game where I was completely stuck in the game"
All in all
I hope you as as well as this community flourish !

Backstage note credited to Henry Rollins. One of the reasons people consider him a legend. Sorry for going a bit off topic!

He's a legend in Hardcore punk. It's really intense stuff. He was the singer in Black Flag before forming the Rollins Band. This is one of his more accessible tracks called Liar

When I google searched him I saw that he’s also a singer but I never listened to his stuff. He does punk?

Mace Griffin, cool! I really enjoyed this back in the day, nice to see it's still getting some love. I didn't realise (or had forgotten) it was voiced by Henry Rollins. Did you know that he is also a legendary punk/hardcore singer?
