Real Royal-A Neat Spin On BR
Realm Royal
Realm Royal is very similar to other battle royal games but it's also very very different. If you played Fortnite you'll see a lot of similar aspects. Realm Royal is made by Hi-Rez Studios. Remember Paladins Champions of the Realm? They also made this awesome F2P game. Realm Royal looks almost identical to Paladins, in the sense of art style and menu layout. The game is currently in closed Beta on Xbox. But I got a download code and have been playing it for about a week. A few things to note I'm not the biggest fan of BR and can't stand Fortnite. But this game is so fun! It's an oddity in the BR scene for a few reasons. Like instead of finding a vehicle you get a mount you can use at any point in game. There's also some really cool abilities that really change how the game is played. These are called movement abilities and they do everything from let you fly to go invisible.

When you get knocked or go down you don't get stuck in a lame crawl and hope you don't get wiped. No, you get to turned into a chicken! Yes! You turn into a chicken and can run away from your slayer to hopefully find safety. Oh and the best part, after a little while you turn back into normal. But the biggest "Oh that's cool" is the forges. Forges let you craft any thing in the game at Epic quality. You can also resurrect fallen teammates! Whats epic quality? Well just like Fortnite this game has quality tiers in weapons, abilities, and runes.. This is my biggest complaint and why I can't stand Fortnite. But that is a minor complaint and most people won't mind. This games also features Runes. Runes give you special buffs in game and are found at random or made at the forges.
I should also mention unlike other BRs I've played, this is the only one that doesn't have items and weapons laying out all over the place. There are chests and you open those to find items and such. The cool thing is if I search the chest my teammates can still search too! Bottom line is if you enjoy BR games, especially ones like Fortnite, you'll love this one. Realm Royal is out on PC for free now. And in closed beta on Xbox. When it releases it will be F2P (Free to play). F2P means there will be micro-transactions... I'd rather pay for the game and not have them but I understand the business model. Overall it's a solid game and will be a fun one with some buddies.
