Underrail is a CRPG similar to the first and second fallout in many ways with some more modern expectations fulfilled as well it has the tactical combat you expect from most computer rpgs, the game is no XCOM but it has it's own charm.
underrail features a robust crafting system, branching story paths, and most of all that quirky fallout sort of humor that we all love
If you enjoyed titles such as fallout 1, fallout 2, or the wasteland series you should feel right at home playing this
Selling points
-crafting (7/10 best weapons are crafted )
-Story (hard to rate but rest assured it's solid)
-build variety (specialization is key, dedicate yourself to 2 attack specializations 3 max is you decide to go the psionics route) (10/10 would scrap my character again)
-weapons (fantastic, but weapon types require specialization and uniques will not remain useful for very long if they are at all 6/10)
-price $15 for what you get its hard to beat (8/10 buy at any time, I suggest buying at full price so the devs can keep up the good work)
-balance (nothing in the game really screams overpowered when min maxing is almost a requirement for the average player)
-world (8/10 very well done half believable, and lots of great Easter eggs)
- factions ( haven't explored all of them , and I still haven't even beat the game)
- oddity game mode (only level up through collectibles while it may sound tedious it is an amazing idea and well executed)
- numbers GLORIOUS NUMBERS! (underrail is a numbers game with tons of skill checks , stats and the like
Cons (some of these are pros for some)
- dice rolls for some people this is a huge turn off but you won't experience a miss at 99%
- speech checks are often a soft requirement (IE Morde) (again this depends on player preference some people view this as a plus some don't)
-you can back yourself into a corner if you aren't careful save often and keep a few backups
- shops refresh in real time (every hour or so) If you decide you want to shop for a specific part you may need to wait
-no maps, no hand holding (like its predecessors underrail is firmly against holding the players hand you may need to look up a walk through or two for your first play through
-best played continuously (leaving this game and coming back too it months later just wont work)
