Jedi Academy is great and all, but when you talk great Star Wars games you have to talk about Kotor 1&2, amazing rpgs which stand up to this day, with solid and lengthy dialogue trees, interesting stories, and memorable characters who defined an entire era in Star Wars lore.

        Star Wars Pong...
They've made a video game on everything else in the SW franchise... why not.

Sunk so much time into Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast. Great game. Can remember getting the mods to get the dual lightsaber, and all the 3rd party maps, for dueling.

Same! I played Jedi Outcast for close to 4 years online. I even had fun just chilling on FFA maps chatting to people because the community was cool. There were some amazing player made maps for that game. I had fun experimenting with mapping, even though I never published anything I made.

            A few recommendations of mine:

            Shooters:

            Republic Commandos
Original Battlefront 1&2 (There also used to be some interesting mods)
Jedi Knight and Jedi Outcast (after all you played Academy, they are good but the lightsaber combat isn't quite that fleshed out.)

            RPGs

            KOTOR
            KOTOR II

Advice get the mods for it and the TLSRCM (The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod) especially.
            https://www.moddb.com/mods/the-sith-...ent-mod-tslrcm

Space Combat (Yub if you really want in depth, challenging space combat these are for you.)

X-Wing Alliance for Singleplayer (Also with a lot of graphical mods to update it.)
X-Wing Vs. Tie Fighter for Multiplayer, as it's just better in MP.

Better have a Joystick or a Gamepad though they won't let you play otherwise....
And both of those games are hard..........so a lust for challenge, and a bit of frustration tolerance are required.

The Updates for X-Wing Alliance can be found here:
            http://www.xwaupgrade.com

            And here:
            http://www.darksaber.xwaupgrade.com/craftpackucp.html

I would recommend Darksaber's Crafts Update pack, as it also contains upgrades to the sounds and the graphics in general.

            X-Wing
            Tie Fighter

Both are good, but XWA is better than both of them, both combat, quality of life and story wise.
            As well as technically........obviously.

            As it should be.....

They are still fun tough and an upgraded version for X-Wing is in the works.

You could also add the original Rogue Squadron, it has less depth, but is still interesting, but at times even more frustratingly hard than XWA.

            Strategy games

Empire at War - It's the best of the bunch and there is a ton of mods, especially for the Expanded Universe, which gives you tons of extra content.

I also played both Rebellion and Force Commander, but both aren't quite as polished.

Force Commander is the better of the two, but it has a rather easily exploiteable meta.
(Use infiltrator to steal AT-ATs, rinse and repeat. )

Rebellion is interesting but makes no sense at certain points, namely that an orbital bombardment to kill enemy units on the surface doesn't cost you reputation,
but an invasion with Ground Forces does.
Which makes no sense if you know how orbital bombardments work in the Star Wars Universe.

            Racing Games

Episode 1 Racer, the best of the Episode one games by a long shot and an interesting game.

The Force Unleashed was fun, even though it involved heavy retcons of the lore that I didn't quite like.

KOTOR I & II, of course. Both are a blast to play and really tell a good Star Wars story. Plus, the replayability factor in going back and making different choices is a plus.

However, my absolute favorite Star Wars game has to be TIE Fighter. First, I've found that I'm a sucker for flight combat simulators and this is one of the finest examples in that genre right alongside Wing Commander. Secondly, it's a fantastic story. Third, there's a ton of depth to be had here, gameplay-wise. From flight training courses to combat simulator missions, to dozens upon dozens of campaign missions, along with secret objectives to get you further along in the Secret Order of the Emperor, there's no shortage of options.

Also, I was a fan of the Star Wars novels and this game gives some solid nods to certain Expanded Universe characters, which really made me happy. It also has the novelty of being able to play as the "bad guys." It's certainly a unique Star Wars game and one that I still love playing to this day.

All of the Jedi Knight games are great. Jedi Outcast suffers from a lot of bad level design but it still has fun combat. Dark Forces requires you to remap some keys to get proper WASD controls in Dosbox.

TIE Fighter and X-Wing Alliance are both phenomenal. You'll need a joystick though.

Unlike many others on this thread, I can't recommend Republic Commando. It's the second worst PC port I've ever had the misfortune of playing. The mouse acceleration makes aiming absolutely intolerable. Also the basic design of the game is fundamentally flawed which makes every moment of every level a living hell. All enemies are bullet sponges and your maximum ammo pool is pitifully small, so you'll end up using approximately 150% of the available ammo to win any given encounter. Your squad AI is completely useless. They never hit any target if they even manage to start shooting in the first place. Planting bombs and hacking systems is just a pointless waiting minigame, and constantly you are supposed to plant bombs literally next to an infinite enemy spawn point. Time limits are all around unreasonable on any difficulty that isn't the easiest one. The game is also blatantly unfinished and ends abruptly. I can't believe how many people praise this broken piece of shit.
