    HOW MANY US HOUSEHOLDS PLAY
    GAMES ON THE FOLLOWING DEVICES?

    41% PERSONAL COMPUTER

    36% SMARTPHONE

    36% DEDICATED GAME CONSOLE

    24% WIRELESS DEVICE

Looks like as many casuals on smart phones as peasants on consoles.
And for "...a small niche..." it looks like more folks are using their PCs to game with.

    DSOG
"As we can see, PC gaming accounts for 28% of the total game market in 2017, whereas consoles (this includes all consoles) accounts for 29%. As such, and if we compare the PC individually with each console, we can easily see how more profitable PC gaming actually is."

"...the biggest video-game market right now is the mobile which accounts for 43%."
Don't the casuals know consoles are better? lol

Your posting is really, really interesting. Too bad it doesnt have too much in common with business reality: https://newzoo.com/insights/articles...mes-take-half/

PC gaming is nothing more then a niche. Not much of a "PC master race" at all out there .

Didn't see anything in the link you posted that refuted anything I said or linked to.

You just go on believing whatever makes you happy.

I love how this has turned into war as it always does. Good job.

That being said, I haven't upgraded my PC in a long time. I'll tell you why.

I have an AMD CPU, a PhenomII yes its old now.

the CPU market was a near monopoly, Intel overcharged for smaller and smaller iterative gains until Ryzen.
RAM went from DDR3 to DDR4 and prices increased. How insane is it? In 2012 I bought a 16GB kit for $50.
memory shortages meant that OEM kit prices stayed high, and then price fixing has kept it high
2017 GPU mining shortage meant no new GPU, and the GPU generation at this point has been 3+ years old, Nvidia's new offerings are overpriced still.

2019 will shape up to be a good year for PC building for the first time since 2012 roughly(my opinion) when the PC market was booming and more people were getting on board.

the CPU market is healthy in competition, and Intel may for the first time in over a decade, actually try to innovate to keep up with AMD, and prices are good.
RAM prices should drop, not a lot, but enough.
storage prices for SSDs are insanely low.
AMD is likely to release another great slew of entry level GPUs for a good price that will be VR capable and hopefully power efficient

So once again PC gaming will become affordable in the next year and I'm very happy for that. Price and value is always a moving target and is different for everyone. If you want exclusives then your only option is to play on that platform. If you want to save money, it depend on your playing habits. PC is great for people who like to try lots of stuff. Consoles are better for people who don't play many games or use computers for internet and video watching. Then you have to say how do you like to play? Nintendo is kind of portable, so they would be a good choice for many, while everyone else is stuck to their TV or monitor.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you can get an awful lot of free or cheap as dirt games on PC, while Nintendo titles almost never go on sale, and other consoles leave you somewhere in between while also paying for online service.

Lots of options, and you can mix and match. I play nintendo for the exclusives and portable aspect of their consoles as well as PC for the multi-plat games and the many PC exclusive games.

PC gaming is in in a horrible state since a few years. The problem is that Intel stopped development. They arent doing anything new anymore and they arent willing to renew their CPU architecture so that even the most horrible security leaks (Meltdown, multithreading, etc. ) arent even began to be patched.

AMD is right now the innovator at the PC business. I dont know exactly why Intel still exists. This company hasnt any purpose fo the PC users or the PC business anymore and has become a thread for PC security.

Partly they are around because they do more than you probably are aware of. Though between Epyc for servers and Ryzen for consumers, they were caught off guard. Once Ryzen hit stores, Intel I'm sure got right to work. It takes years of R&D to really bring a new CPU to market, so I say give them until another full refresh. They especially have to compete with the infinity fabric and soon chiplets will change the game more. But they've done things no one really cares about day to day, same with the other companies like Nvidia pushing self driving vehicle tech like it is some type of fetish.

I've got a PS4, 360, Xbox, a Gamecube and a few older Nintendo hand consoles (can't think of the word). I lent all the older Nintendo consoles to my brother, but the jerk up and moved to Hawaii without telling me ROFL! I asked for them back one day and was all, "Woops, I forgot to tell you I was moving to Hawaii." =/

Ooooh... Thank you. So each one can be between 0 and 100. Yes, the math works if you divide each one by the total number of votes in the top right.
