What Companies Are On Our Side?

Don't forget about Larian! And many of Sony's first parties (not Sony itself though). Of the major ones, Square Enix and Nintendo do nice things every once in a while... then they fuck up again.

If we're talking AAA developers, I'd say most have already been listed. A lot of AAA developers/publishers really don't give a shit about us save for maybe Deep Silver and CD Projekt.
Now, if we're talking indie level publishers and developers, we already know that Devolver is definitely on our side. There's another developer that is currently updating their game Deep Rock Galactic, the developer is Ghost Ship Games I believe, and they really do listen to their fanbase as of writing this.Last edited by devilemporium; 12-06-2018, 02:28 AM.

There's already been mentioned most of the good gaming companies, but I have a couple more I could think of:
Talesworld Entertainment
Warhorse Studios
Maybe:
Paradox
Deep Silver

Is this a purity test? Does a single mess doom a company to being labeled as a bad actor for all time?
Yes, Rockstar. Their quality is generally very high. They generally hit their release targets. They don't demonize the fans. They don't cram politics down our throats.

Well, I've been in communication with Frictional Games recently, and I was pleasantly surprised at the speed of response and the personal nature it took. Just to quote a little bit of the last email I received from their Community and Operations Manager:
"Hello again!
I appreciate all our fans and so does the rest of the company, so I try to help them out or just say thank you whenever I can.
"
My initial inquiry was regarding something quite trivial, but still they took the trouble to respond - but they wouldn't give any clues away to their current project unfortunately!
So from the perspective of "On our side", I think it's fair to say they respect and value gamers.

I think Elon needs to focus on grid fin hydraulics for a bit so he's not-crashing rockets into the shoreline. Today's accident could have killed a lot of folks if they weren't able to successfully steer it into the ocean. Even then - it was really close to the shore. Any swimmers would have been toast.

As much as I hate to say it... Nexon. Granted they have given out a few times, like when they removed the Donald NPC from Maplestory after he became president, but they are generally more "in tune" with their customer base. Most of their games, ESPECIALLY Maplestory, is like one endless buffet of meme references and pop culture in-jokes. They're often about as NON-PC as you can get.

Personally, I don't see it as a matter of companies being on our side, but rather, knowing that they really shouldn't piss off their customers if they want to continue being successful at whatever it is that they do. EA is coasting along on their big name alone at this point, and eventually, their deeds are going to catch up with them and they won't be able to keep their heads above that particular tide. It's almost as if the entire concept of delivering a product your fans want is an obsolete concept. Now it's just publishers and developers listening to people they shouldn't.
Imagine if you owned a shop dealing exclusively in making cakes. Now, next to your business is a shop dealing exclusively in pies. You're happily making cakes one day, when a regular customer from the pie shop comes in and tells you that you might get more customers if your cakes were more like pies. So, you happily oblige them. All of a sudden, however, you're losing custom from your cake-loving fans, and are the pie lovers buying your products? No, they're still buying the pies from the original pie bakery, and now your cake shop is no different from any other bakery around you. Well done, you've played yourself.

I see it as more of a publishing problem. Microsoft was rushing the release date of SoT. Rare is actually making changes for the best here recently.

The list has changed throughout the years. Blizzard and Valve used to be on the list for example. They aren't anymore.
Some companies I can think of on short notice are:
CD Project Red
From Software
Atlus
Obsidian Entertainment
And of course smaller indie devs like Toby Fox and inXile.

Rare ?
You mean the company that shit out the half-baked game Sea Of Thieves ?
That Rare ?
I'd say they were cool when they used to make games that actually had content, now, they're quite crap.
