    I <3 Thekla.

Also +1 for Nintendo - I'm not the biggest fan of their games but I really appreciate them for maintaining a high standard of technical quality (while being quite creative as a bonus).

You could definitely have Paradox on this list. They pretty much have a monopoly on the grand strategy genre. It's a niche genre, they have their niche group of grand strategy fans and they make games for them. Their DLC/Expansion practices are often criticized but this is usually because people don't understand how it works. Crusader Kings 2 may have like 100 DLC's/expansions, as does Europa Universalis 4 and lots of other games they make, but you don't have to buy them to get the "full experience". They give you 75% of each expansion they make for free, only certain features are locked behind the expansion.

Basically they put the choice in your hands. They make a new expansion and put most of it in the game for free in the patch that launches with the expansion, then it's just a question of "Do I want to play as the Indian cultures they just added in an expansion?" and if the answer is yes, you buy it. If no, you don't buy it and you lose nothing but gain some free stuff anyway.
