MacAuley Caulkin appears on the latest episode (and in James + Mike mondays).. surreal
My favourite AVGN episode has to be the Dreamcast game where you grow the weird fish man thing (I don't even remember the name...it must have been good!) - the game with Leonard Nimoy's narration. I really need that game one day...

AVGN is cool. He puts a lot of effort into his videos and it shows. Good writing, production values, editing, etc. Plus he's not scared of calling a cunt a cunt. I'm glad he's back to making AVGN episodes, because for a while there he devolved into another run of the mill lazy video game youtuber.

I think my favorite episodes are Die Hard and Silver Surfer. The confusion and anger in the former seem really genuine, and the latter is about a game that's so terrible that the Nerd goes into 100% pissed off the second the game boots up and it only goes uphill from there. There was a spot after James finished filming the movie and got a kid that his videos took a bit of a trend downwards but he's fully back now and all of the recent episodes have been good.

Been marathonning the entire AVGN series, it's interesting seeing how the series has evolved. I've gotten into the rental reviews quite recently as well.Chickens are quite possibly the most vicious creatures I have encountered.

I like those episodes, too, still remember him flipping out, that the main character will refuse to climb down a rope, but will happily throw himself out of the window on the 50th floor in Die Hard.Originally posted by Garrett View PostI think my favorite episodes are Die Hard and Silver Surfer. And in Silver Surfer he had me laughing all the way through, especially at the point where he is mimicing the game-over screen.
I also however enjoyed his positive-rant reviews alot, like the ones with castlevania (not simons quest), which always gave me a fuzzy feeling and made me assured that it is ok to have some love for video-games.

Crazy to think that I've been following AVGN for a decade now. For me, there's something smoothing and relaxing in watching AVGN and when I'm feeling down, I just marathon bunch of AVGN episodes and it makes everything better, hah. I really like his Rental Review show too!
First Youtuber I actually started following in anyway. Well, at first I actually watched episodes from Cinemassacre.com and then moved to Youtube.

I'm still a big fan of the AVGN, I already watched him way back when it all started and am very glad the main concepts of hs show havn't changed much, it's just very comforting since many Youtubers from the days of old either jsut disappeared or changed their content too much.
One of my favs is the glitch episode with the glitch gremlin.Hail Kizuna Ai

I kinda used to think that about him as well, especially somewhere before Episode 80 or something. And initally his own segment, where he shows of his skillz in video-games seemed under the same banner.Originally posted by nmlss View Post
But later on, I really found that he managed to get out of james' shadow, and I really enjoyed the way he was talking about video games too. The James&Mike monday were a mixed bag, sometimes hilarious because of both of them though. I however enjoy each of them individually most.
I kinda wish Mike ultimatively would've ended up with his own official segment on cinemassacre, with a little production-value. But maybe that's just an uncomfortable style for him. Really, I think you should give Mike a chance and watch some of his later Reviews/Presentations of Games.

I tend to only watch the main James features, his reviews of movies as well as games, Board James, AVGN and so on. I tend to not even watch the Mike stuff, watching someone playing retro action games I've never played just isn't that interesting to me. I do watch retro games I've never played on other channels (ProJared for example) so it's either just the games Mike chooses to play (likely) or something about him in particular that just turns me off.Iconoclast

I've seen every CineMassacre video (and I mean, EVERY video, including the AVGN compilation seasons) and I still don't like Mike. Not only because most what he does is long gameplays, but because I don't like his attitude. James is the nice guy that plays to have fun and he's the asshole that plays to fuck everybody and prove he's the best.Originally posted by Kraneloran View PostReally, I think you should give Mike a chance and watch some of his later Reviews/Presentations of Games.
I remember seeing him playing Sea of Thieves and naming a video "Me humiliating a bunch of fucking idiots" (or something like that) where he basically found an empty small docked ship and started shooting at them until it sunk (after wasting 200 cannon balls) and laughing like a maniac. After some people called him out on the comments (and laughed at him for not shooting under the water line), he changed the name of the video. Sometimes it feels like Motherfucker Mike is not that much of a character…"Yeah, well… that's like… your opinion, man…"

I'll not jump out now and scold you for it, but It seems to me that you neglect the possibility, that he wanted to know how people would feel about him giving that middle-finger to the people. If I would've to guess, from your description I would assum an April Fools episode, which it probably was not. I, personally, never saw that one, and in his videos I noticed a certain arrogance in his skill as a controler-wielder, but generally trying to be friendly. At best, I felt, he stumbled in the beginning desperately trying to be interesting, because he seemed to think himself boring.Originally posted by nmlss View Post

I won't say that you're not right to think about him the way you do, but to me it seems, that this video you're describing as well as the title he gave that video must've been made back then when he was still experimenting, and it was an attempt to not be "boring".

No, that wasn't Mike just "pretending to be a dick". He does that usually and you just have to google his name and see that maaaany people feel the same way about him. He's arrogant, he's living under the shadow of James and he even fired Bootsy because everybody loved that guy, he has a super skilled gamer but he was always nice to people and not a dick and as soon as people started to wanting more and more Bootsy and less and less Mike… bam, Bootsy disappeared from Cinemassacre forever.
