Anything from Final Fantasy IX and X really gets to me. Oh my god and Final Fantasy XI takes me back to the greatest MMO days of my life.

Darren Korb with Bastion / Transistor OST
    Jesper Kyd with Borderlands OST
Jim Guthrie with Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery OST

Marcin Przybylowicz really does stand out for me with his Witcher 3 OST and several other songs which didn't make it into the final release.
As to the famous Jeremy Soule, his works for The Elder Scrolls series (with the only exception of the main theme) are easily surpassed by Brad Derrick — current composer for ESO.

Well Marty O’Donnell comes to my mind. However, just to make it interesting, if you haven’t checked out Composer Jessica Curry and the OST she composed for the game “Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture” I would highly recommend it.

Check out her song “All the Earth” or “The Sleep of Death” on that OST album. (Note: Marty actually recommended this FYI)

For me, the composer and game award goes to the Halo series, during Martin O'Donnell's tenure. The atmosphere and overall quality of the pieces he created are my absolute favorite. I have heard very little that even compete with his works.

Steve Emney and Stephen Root who composed the First two Burnout franchises, both of which have killer soundtracks (Especially the Burnout 1)

As well as Greg Edmonson who composed the first three Uncharted games

One of my favorite game scores has to be the original Spyro the Dragon soundtrack, it was really unique at the time, and especially well produced becuse of Stewart Copeland's involvement.

Metal Gear Solid 2 had a really great soundtrack too. I think a lot of people gravitate towards the MGS 3 score becuse of that one really good opening track the game has, but i always felt MGS 2 had tracks and sound design that just fit the MGS universe so well.

The Ico, Shadow of the Colossus and Last Gaurdian trilogy of games have great music too, more beautiful than memorable maybe, but very fitting.

And finally the Resident Evil Remake and Resident Evil Zero games have really great atmospheric scores i enjoyed that are very fitting and memorable, especially the save room music.

Koji Kondo is my answer. The Zelda and Mario themes practically define gaming. No one has done more for video game music than him.

That said, I feel that Noriyuki Iwadare,Yasunori Mitsuda and Nobuo Uematsu are equally consistent and good.

Miki Higashino, Koichi Sugiyama, Akira Yamaoka, Michiru Yamane, and Hitoshi Sakimoto are amazing as well.

Excellent thread. I love so many OST's of games. Probably my favorites would be...

    Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Halo 4, both volumes... I don't even play Halo, or own an X-Box, but one of my closest friends is a Halo fiend, & I checked out the OST when the game was released & loved it

Any of the soundtracks from The Witcher series, but TW3 is so damn good. Tesham Mutna from Blood & Wine, gah! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Tlm5NN0xLMg

Or Trial of the Grasses, which if you know the history of that, makes the song even more creepy & sad... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aMR7_ZMkfgE

I absolutely love the work Mick Gordon did for the new Killer Instinct and Doom, both OSTs will probably never leave my Playlists.
