It’s that time of year again where 2019 already has a lot of fire basically filling up our calendars and our bank accounts already hurting. January already had some really massive games in resident evil 2 remake and kh3 dropping in the same week no less. So with that in mind what is everyone excited about this year?

The one game that I am looking forward to is The Outer Worlds by Obsidian Entertainment. I am not hyped for it, though, I will definitely keep an eye on it. Hopefully this game will be somewhat similar to Fallout: New Vegas, one of their previous works. If you've got nothing to say - say nothing.

They just posted a commentary vid for the gameplay, its "almost" like FNV, but from what the commentators say, its not. I'll link the video below so you can see for yourself.

Not that much... my PC/PS4 backlog is extensive... -_-
That said, I'm excited for Ghost of Tsushima (likely the only new release I'll actually get), Cyberpunk 2077 (will prob put this back a bit for when I get myself a proper gaming PC rig) and maybe Death Stranding (will need to wait 'n see for this)...
On a lesser note, perhaps Total War: Three Kingdoms (see CP'77).

Hmmm, games for 2019. Well first and foremost is going to have to be Doom Eternal. And nothing else really passed that as of now. However, i will be watching E3 this coming year. Ea's conference is going to be something to watch. We can expect a new battlefield title in some form after this last iteration's debacle. Also nintendo's treehouse presentation with hopefully something on Metroid prine 4.

Honestly I am excited for animal crossing Switch. Such a relaxing game. I know it isn't super hardcore, but I love the game.
I would say I'm looking forward to other games, but the AAA industry is all but dead to me. So I'm hoping for exciting indie devs to surprise me. Many of the actually good games I've played have been those. Dead Cells, Stardew Valley, Golf Story, Hollow Knight, Path of Exile and more have been passion projects and games I've liked playing or liked seeing people play. So I'm waiting for more surprises to play.
The only big release I'm kind of keeping my eye on(with morbid curiosity) Is Halo: Infinite. I'm sure its going to be a games as a live service type game, with a terrible single player(if any) and mtx and lootboxes that make getting special armor pieces about RNG and not doing specific tasks or just ranking up.
I don't really see much else to look forward to. Developers in big companies seem to be too afraid to try new things, and when they do, they do so using the same broken methods(I'm look at YOU Bethesda and Starfield).

Looking at the replies so far I think the big publishers may be in for a shock in 2019. In their minds single player games are the past and games as a service is the future. None of the replies below so far have included anthem. Anthem had a lot of hype in the beginning but I think a lot of gamers are leary. Is it because if EA? Is it because of the Destiny debacle? Is it because of what happened to mass effect? This is also a departure from what Bioware fans are used to. Or is it just a combination of all these things that make Anthem unappealing? 2019 will be an interesting year indeed. One of the games I'm looking forward to playing is Sekiro. I think publishers and developers need to think of other ways to make money from a franchise. For instance like dead space I bought the animated films. Somehow merchandising could be the key. But then again I can see that getting out of control too. Companies selling sub par products for quick cash. Anyway we'll see if the new year will be good or bad for games as a service and lootboxes. Companies have backed off a bit but I wonder if they won't return to their bad habits.
