Am I the only one who wished for the choice to pick no side, just kill them both and keep Skyrim for yourself?

New Vegas spoiled me 2 much with that Anarchy ending, I did honestly expected it to see it again on Skyrim.

The Brotherhood of Nod would never abandon you in your darkest hour.
    The GDI are cowards.

Alexrd like I said the details are a bit fuzzy but I remember something about the Stormcloaks killing some people that didn't need to die (something I know the Imperials do) but I'd have to run through the game again to see what I'm remembering. Sorry if that's a thing that didn't even happen.

Sometimes you have to make the hard choices. The Thalmor wish to remove the concept of mortality and there's only one way to do that. They literally want to end existence itself. To unmake the universe. The reason why they did not join Alduin was that Alduin was going to destroy the world and everything would start from a clean slate. A world without Thalmor. Nobody would be striving for their goal of ending existence.

But as I said, hard choices. If it takes destroying the universe to get rid of Nazeem, then so be it. It's worth the price.

@LordSparkleButt: IIRC, the alleged drawback is that them wanting to leave the Empire would put both Skyrim and the Empire in a fragile position against the Dominion. But that's a false dichotomy. The Nords wanting freedom and independence doesn't mean they can't ally themselves with the Empire (or vice versa) to fight their common enemy: the Dominion.

The stormclocks are no innocent bystanders as you seem to be suggesting. They are seemingly on a never-ending conquest to either destroy or harass anything that doesn't look like them. Always have been. Just ask my friend Suvaris Atheron in windhelm. Always harassing that poor girl. It's pathetic.

It's "up in the air" as to who is right or wrong. Personally I don't care. So I chose to side with the group that will not define me entirely on my physical appearance.

They do but their means to an end in some circumstances leads me to not wan't to be affiliated with them. Can't remember the details but I do remember feeling this way when playing.

Stormcloaks. Their arguments are more sound and legitimate.

I never chose because the more I looked into either side the more I wanted to stay unaligned to both factions. I would on occasion fight some imperials but for the most part I left them both alone till I was forced to interact with them.

The Thalmor have a right to their beliefs, however attacking other nations for worshipping Talos and setting up military bases to ensure those nations abandon their god isn't okay. The imperials signed the white gold concordant and forced everyone under their rule to forsake their beliefs for those of the Thalmor. The Stormcloaks just want to return to their ancestry and Talos.
