Third. I usually like to see my character. I only use first person in shooters.

Do You Prefer Third Or First person Cameras?

It heavily depends on the game. I think the preference really depends on how the developer wants you to play the game. Even if there is a choice to switch perspectives, the ones other than default just seem really awkward since the gameplay is based on the default. I don't think that first person increases immersion either. There are many 3rd person games where I feel just as immersed or even more so than first person games. Immersion really depends on how important it is to the developer imo.

Depends on game and platform...
Deus Ex: Human Revolution (PS3) was fine in FP, even though I was a bit worried how badly it would go for me, the boss battles were actually quite manageable given how crap I am at consol FPS's (and how FP view gives me a headache), it was easier than Tomb Raider, certainly.
For the most part, though, I don't have that much of a preference other than shooters are much more immersive for me in first person, while more fantasy driven games I prefer in third person (mostly to enjoy the usually outrageous outfit I've kitted my character in), and a swing to first person on PC and third person on consol (usually because third person controls tend to be spongier/springier, which is more manageable for shooters given my aforementioned suckiness at consol FPS's).

I’m my opinion first and third views has as vantage’s and disadvantages. For example I could tilt the camera and see around the corner in third person without my body poking out or how first person is more focused in the FPS games. I’m in favor of both being optional as sometimes I would like to see my in game avatar. If I had to pick one for all games it would be third person as I really like to customize my avatar.

No real preference, but I seem to like more third person games than I do first person games. I think that comes down to the games though.
I tend to play Bethesda RPG's in first person because it just doesn't look or feel right in third person, and I feel like I have blind spots, aiming trouble and disconnect from the world. I'm also totally down with Cyberpunk 2077, am not hoping for a third person camera and can totally understand why it's the focus.

The game you're playing really does determine what viewpoint is appropriate. In general I like 1st person the best, but there are some great 3rd person titles like Pillars of Eternity or the Zelda games.
Actually, come to think about it... basically every game on consoles with controllers lacking dual joy sticks that were in 1st person pretty much sucked. You ever play Banjo-Tooie's FPS multiplayer? Awful!Last edited by PriestTroit; 12-26-2018, 04:13 AM.

I don't prefer cameras. I prefer games designed with a specific point of view in mind. You can't just add third-person view to a TES game or a first-person view to a GTA game and pretend it is just as good, lol. It's not how it works. So I just prefer the developer to customize an experience that compliments the game the best."You can take the politics out of the forums, but you can't take the snowflakes out of the internet "
