My only real option is gamestop like most people I think. Game Craze in Rochester NY is excellent if it's still open. The, by far, best game store I've ever seen is Video Game Heaven in Chesapeake VA.
Not only do they have retro games and systems/ paraphernalia, but the owner has a system/game repair bench in store. If your consoles games are unplayable they can fix them for you in store(most likely) while you fucking watch! A real gem if you're in that area.

Any store selling physical copies, prob because i remember the days when i was a kid who had to "go on a journey" to find some games and because i rarely do it these days having steam available.First Generation 1:1 "And they did make the console, and said "Let there be games" and it was good"

I know there is a lot of hate for Gamestop out there, but I have always had good experiences with them. I would say maybe 1 out of every 10 games I order from them online have an issue. I simply bring those games to my local Gamestop and they always exchange it no questions asked. I have also ordered consoles from them, and I have always gotten quality hardware. I have heard some horror stories from other people online, but I have never experienced it though.

The end of Best Buy's Gamer's Club Unlocked, followed by the very predictable end of Amazon's Prime preorder discount, has really changed the landscape for physical games for me. I'm honestly not sure where I will buy them, but I am pretty sure I will buy less and/or wait longer to buy them.
In terms of digital, I generally go where the best deal is, though if everything is the same price, I'd buy games with achievements on Steam and games without on GOG.

I live in Australia, so I mostly get my stuff from EB Games and JB Hi-Fi. Been doing it so long they all know me, and its nice to have discussions about random game shit like I do here with them.
If I make a digital order it's mostly through mightyape."Video Games are hard" - Video Game Journalism being casual AF
